Yummy Chocolate Almonds Recipe
I just made this recipe in my dehydrator yesterday. They didn’t even finish drying before my kids finished them! So I’m starting a new double batch now. It’s a great treat to get RAW, SPROUTED nutrition into your family’s routine, and it’s an easy way to use the raw almonds from this year’s Group Buy.
Chocolate Almonds
Ingredients
- 2 cups raw almonds
- 1 tbsp liquid coconut oil
- 2 tbsp date syrup
- 1 tbsp raw chocolate powder (or nonalkalized unsweetened cocoa powder)
- 1/4 tsp Original Himalayan Crystal Salt
Directions
- Soak your raw almonds in water overnight, then drain and allow them to air dry for an hour or two.
- Mix all remaining ingredients well, then stir in nuts.
- Spread evenly on dehydrator tray and dry until no longer wet/sticky (about 14-18 hours) below 116 degrees. Enjoy!

Robyn,
I made several batches of your candied almonds at Christmas. I loved them wet, so had a hard time not eating them all before they had dried too! Can’t wait to get that date syrup and try these–since I’m still trying to keep sugar out of my diet and having a rough time!!! Thanks!
This sounds great! I have been wanting to experiment with sprouting…this sounds like a wonderplace to start.
I can’t wait to try these, they sound yummy! What could be better than chocolate, almonds and coconut oil!
Sounds delicious, Robyn!
I guess I don’t win the “first X amount of comments” prize this time. 🙁
Oh well! But when I get my almonds then I’m gonna try out this recipe with fiesta mole! It’s a superfood concoction from radicalhealth.com. So fabulous! I’d use the chocolate bliss powder but it tastes too good to do anything else with besides drink!
Psst…Robyn I want to thank you for inspiring me to do better with my health. I’m now to the point that I’m trying to do an all raw diet. I’ve been blogging about it on my cookinwithtrish blog…kind of ironic that the website has “cookin” in the title isn’t it? Oh well though…I happened onto David Favor’s site listed above because I met him at a raw food meetup group here in SA. (You see, here in the boonies and armpit of unhealthful eating practices, we need support groups. If any of you reading this find the same thing yourself get on meetup.com and find one!) So now I’m adding superfoods to my diet and I’m feeling awesome! I want to go conquer the world…well not exactly but just want to do a lot of productive and amazing things. And a lot of smiling from ear to ear. And my whole journey started with you, Robyn. And now I’m reading permission to mother…It’s fabulous so far! I just want to hug you, and her, and the woman sending me almonds tomorrow, and all the people that want to eat healthier but are struggling…I love you all!
Chris, Bridget, Karen, write me your addresses at robyn@oppublishing.net, yay!
Tricia, I have loved reading your comments the past two years. The author of Permission to Mother, Dr. Punger, has also been doing 12 Steps about that long, and Shanna in Arizona, who is sending you almonds . . . well, the three of you are just examples of the AMAZING people I’ve been blessed to “meet” on this site.
Somehow one day I’d like for all of us to meet in person . . . maybe on a humanitarian expedition? Or a GSG conference / retreat.
Just so you all know – you can find the date syrup online at http://www.OrganicsAreForEveryone.com. Free shipping for orders of 3 bottles or more!
Enjoy!
You know Robyn I was just thinking the same thing! I’ll be coming to Utah probably in August for my birthday. Maybe going to Education week- but I have a little guy to tote around so I don’t know if I’ll be able to go for very long. I think you should teach there, then they’d have an actual nutritional guru there to learn from! I’ll have to find out if you’re at least doing a conference/retreat at that time in Utah. Keep us updated!
how do we get you to teach at education week?
Don’t know but I’d love to!
Is there anything else we can use besides date syrup? I’d love to try some, but it’s a bit pricey for me right now and there is no store where I live that carries it.
I think something stickier would be a good substitute (not maple syrup), probably agave or honey! Try it and see!
Getting raw almonds is practically impossible in my area. However, local RAW, straight from the trees, pecans are readily available–as much as I want and can afford. So…..
I wondered about your thought on using really RAW pecans in place of almonds. I know the nutritional break-down won’t be the same, but just interested in your opinion.
Thanks for the thoughts 🙂
Use what you have! Pecans are good food.
really sounds great love the alnonds
thanks for the recipe?
How do I purchase date syrup?
thanks,
jaylene
Robin,
Is it to late to order the almonds? and where can I get the date syrup? you mentioned maybe I could order it from you I have never done that so help!!!! in the mean time I guess I can use agave or honey is that correct. I love chocolate almonds I just purhase a dehydrator a year ago and Have not used it what a wonderful time to start with chocolate almonds.
Thank You for the recipe.
Molly Lawrence.
Does dehydrating almonds change the taste or texture of the almonds?
Sounds WONDERFUL!! Can’t wait to try it!! Bobbie Scarfe
And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.
I love to do these almonds but I do not have the syrup and did not get does raw almonds unfortunately Do you think I can get raw almonds at whole foods?? Do you have the date syrup for sale??

Hi EVERYONE!!
You all, are such inspirations to me as I am still on the beginning steps of my journey with all of you!
Robyn…Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Trish…I would like to see your blog but when I try, the message at the top of the page says forbidden. I too live where people are not so healthy and those that care just look at me like I am a nut when I tell them about Robyn and the wonders of raw eating and the delicious green smoothies. One health fanatic friend of mine even thinks this idea of raw eating isn’t so healthy because he can’t find the information in a text book. So I have tried to enlighten him with Robyn’s book and others. No go for him! He is still counting every tiny calorie and weighing and measuring everything that goes past his lips. I often, silently, compare his meals to mine as I eat more and more raw…I am living a healthier way of life and eating better too!
This sounds good…I have almonds drying now. I’ll take some out and make a batch.
Am I still to keep soaked and dried nuts to about a 1/3 of a cup a day?
Colleen (or anyone who might know), can you please tell me if the Date Syrup from Organics Are For Everyone is 100% raw? I checked it out at their site and it sounds great, but I wouldn’t want to use it if it’s been heated (cooked) in processing. Didn’t find anything there to indicate if it is raw or not.
Thank you!
I wanted to know what is the most or least expensive dehydrator that I can get without spending too much money, my husbands aunt drys apples, bananas, etc. thanks
Since I won’t have the funds to purchase a dehydrator until this summer, can I still eat the almonds and still get all the benefits?
Do you still have almonds left, and please tell me how much do yo I need to order for you to mail it??? Single no children, but I could get some friends to join me

Is there a way to make the date syryp by taking date paste and soaking it in water until it is a mush?
Would that work do you think?
Tina
I am considering purchasing the Blentec. Can you explain why the Blentec is more beneficial to use than a food processor to make a green smoothie? Thank you for your input.
