The Healthcare Alternative More Americans Are Turning To
The Pickleball Conversation I Can’t Forget
I ran into a friend at pickleball the other night that I hadn’t seen in months. I walked over to say hello – and immediately noticed a bandaged port in his arm, tubing attached, with a vial of blood and medication strapped to it.
I said, “Frank! What on earth is going on?”
He told me he’d just spent five days in the hospital with a serious E. coli blood infection. The device attached to his arm was for IV antibiotics. He wasn’t there to play pickleball that night – just to sit and watch.
Then he said something that stunned me.
“I have really good insurance,” he told me. “But they won’t cover a medical professional to administer the antibiotics I need. So I have to do my own IV treatment twice a day.”
He explained that the process involved around 20 separate steps, including sterilizing equipment and carefully managing the medication. “It’s basically a part-time job,” he said.
What shocked him most was this:
“They told me that even if I were 92 years old, they still wouldn’t cover treatment at a facility. I’m completely on my own.”
I’ve heard plenty of stories lately about insurance denials, endless phone trees, and AI-driven systems that seem designed to wear people down. More and more, people describe feeling trapped in automated systems where it’s nearly impossible to speak to a real human being – let alone get compassionate help.
But hearing Frank’s story firsthand, standing there courtside with tubing hanging from his arm, made it all feel very real.
Why I Switched to Impact Health Sharing

Health sharing is built on people helping people — not corporations profiting from illness.
Over the past few years, I’ve discovered something that completely changed the way I think about healthcare – and I honestly can’t keep it to myself.
It’s about more than saving money. It’s about freedom.
I discovered the health-sharing model: a community-based approach where members contribute to one another’s medical needs.
It feels a little like the old-fashioned “neighbors helping neighbors” philosophy – but modernized with technology, streamlined systems, and, most importantly, actual human beings you can talk to when you need help.
One of the biggest differences? You aren’t locked into a narrow network of approved providers. You can choose the doctor you trust, and providers are typically paid quickly – without months of fighting over claims and approvals.
What also stood out to me is that the organization is nonprofit. Their mission isn’t to maximize shareholder profits – it’s to serve members. In fact, when there’s excess money left over, it can be returned to members.
I’ve been part of two other health-sharing organizations before, but this one has been dramatically more affordable for me – nearly cutting my monthly costs in half compared to my previous program.
And the benefits surprised me. It includes things many traditional plans often overlook: chiropractic care, physical therapy, talk therapy, and mental health support, plus 24/7 telemedicine access.
For me, it’s felt like a completely different experience of healthcare – one built more around people than bureaucracy.
The Freedom to Choose Your Own Doctor
One of the things I value most is the freedom to choose my own doctor. That matters deeply to me. I don’t want healthcare decisions dictated by a narrow network or corporate contracts – I want the ability to work with practitioners I genuinely trust.
And if you’re like many Americans right now, you may have noticed your healthcare costs climbing sharply this year. After certain ACA subsidy provisions expired in January, many families saw their monthly premiums increase significantly.
It’s worth taking a fresh look at what you’re paying each month – and comparing it to other options that may better fit your needs and values. In less than a minute, you can see what health sharing could potentially save you.
Over the past two decades, one of the greatest privileges of my life has been teaching people about real health and empowering them to take ownership of their wellbeing. Many GreenSmoothieGirl followers have told me, “I wish I could do what you do.”
Some have even said they would buy a plane ticket just to sit next to me and ask questions for a few hours.
If you’ve ever wanted to work with me more directly, this may be the opportunity. I’m incredibly passionate about helping people discover healthcare alternatives that offer more freedom, more flexibility, and often substantial savings, too.
For so many families, healthcare has become one of the largest monthly expenses they carry. Helping people find another path – one that feels more human-centered and financially sustainable – has become something I care deeply about.
How Much Could You Save?

What I love about the health-sharing model is that it brings humanity back into healthcare.
I know families paying $2,000 a month – or more – just for their health insurance premiums. And many still face high deductibles, limited provider options, and unexpected out-of-pocket costs on top of that.
I truly believe there’s another way.
What I love about the health-sharing model is that it brings humanity back into healthcare. Members contribute to help one another through medical needs, creating a system built on shared responsibility, compassion, and community support.
There’s something deeply meaningful about knowing your monthly contribution is helping another family through a difficult season – and that if you ever face a health crisis yourself, others are there to help carry the burden with you.
But beyond the community aspect, it also creates more freedom: freedom to choose your providers, freedom from many of the frustrations people experience with traditional insurance systems, and often, far more financial breathing room.
That’s why I’ve become so passionate about sharing this with others.
