Introducing Karen Wilbert, GreenSmoothieGirl Makeover [part 3 of 4]

When I watched Karen Wilbert, I turned to Kels and said, “She really touches me. I want to work with her.” I was deeply moved by Karen’s story of six family members undergoing gastric bypass, including both parents and 4 siblings! Two of them have had the procedure twice!

When she came to my home to interview, she walked with a cane. But this is a big improvement since she was once on a feeding tube for a year! She lost 60 lbs. because of malnutrition.

Karen’s health challenges are daunting. Multiple sclerosis is not a quick or easy thing to turn around, like cardiovascular disease, anxiety, and overweight can be. Fatigue and depression mean that we have to fight through early, serious roadblocks to get to the good stuff–the dividends of lifestyle change.

I told her, “We can’t and don’t promise any specific ‘cures’ of health problems.” But Karen is BRAND NEW to the GSG lifestyle and I’m excited to see what happens, because there’s nowhere to go but up, when you’ve hit rock bottom. I was looking for people whose spouses are not highly resistant (uneducated, or mild resistance, yes–all-out opposition, no). Karen’s husband will support this.

I told her, “I’m thrilled to be part of your journey, and I want to educate and help you. My one concern is this: Will you get out of bed and do this?

With many tears, she stated her commitment. Please give her your encouragement in response to this blog entry! Tell her your own experience and give her some love!

I think Karen is ready to live. She is more than 2 years younger than I am–41 years old, far too young to be the “living dead.” Please view her video here.

I can feel her pain as she talks about the lost time. I just wanted to tell her that she is beautiful and deserves to be well so that she can have all the time she wants in the future! You can do this Karen!!

That’s awesome Karen. I can relate to your feelings about time lost. I’ve struggled physically for the past 25 years, but collapsed completely in 2004 and was bedridden for 4 years. I had to relearn how to walk and regain my mobility. I can honestly say that green smoothies have helped me more than any of the other treatments, medications, hospital stays, and even alternative things that I have tried. I am a big believer in miracles. I am living a life of one now.

Karen is a very talented woman who needs to be able to share her talents with the world. I hope that she is able to learn about nutrition so that she can become healthy again to share her laughter and great brightness with everyone! You can do it Karen!!

Congratulation Karen, your life is about to change for the better and I know that you will impact a lot of people around you by the transformation that will happen in your mind and body. I’m exited for you and looking forward to hear all the positive this raw diet will bring into your life. I’ve been doing it for about 6 weeks and I absolutely love it, all my cravings are gone and what helps me if I want to feel full longer I put a little of chia seeds in my green smoothie…hope that helps. God bless you and give you strength.

Karen, I will be following your progress with enthusiasm. (I too have multiple sclerosis). I always feel better when I’m drinking green smoothies – my energy levels are better, the physical fatigue is less overwhelming & my thought processes are better. Green smoothies give you a big nutritional bang for the buck, are quick & easy to prepare even when you are too tired to want to stand & prepare food. Be encouraged, you are on the right path. Here’s to your successful experience!
