Announcing three winners: GreenSmoothieGirl Makeover [part 1 of 4]
As I mentioned, I got LOTS of video applications. If you wanted to be in our pilot project, and you weren’t selected, please know that if the show takes off and we do more, I will want to work with you then!
One major factor was to choose folks who are VERY NEW to eating right. I was looking for people eating the Standard American Diet who desperately need some training, so we could watch their transformation from ground zero.
For the next three days, I’m announcing the 3 winners, and telling you why I fell in love with them and want to work with them first. I’ll be posting their demo videos.
We’ll create the reality show out of interviews and my consultations with these amazing families. You may not be aware that my family and I were on ABC/Disney’s show Wife Swap several years ago. (The green-smoothie, anti-junk-food lifestyle was, of course, central to the show. They matched us with a family who ate nothing but junk, in Albuquerque.)
Much of the show was manufactured, and I had an interesting experience working with cameras, producers, and directors in a high-pressure situation, a constant presence in my life. To a certain extent, creative license is required in making a show. But my show will be as real as possible because my point isn’t to create entertainment. It’s to give you a peek inside a real-life transformation, so you have inspiration for your own journey.
Will we ever do a “second take?” I’m sure that’ll occasionally be necessary. However, we aren’t going to put words in a family member’s mouth. We aren’t going to manufacture successes. We aren’t going to sugar-coat challenges.
You will be moved and inspired by their real stories–there is a lot of suffering here, but a lot of potential and enthusiasm, too.
Come with us on this exciting journey–make sure you’re subscribed to GreenSmoothieGirl channel on YouTube, so you know when we release each new segment!
The next three days, I’ll introduce you to our three families. We’ll post their demo footage, so you can see what I saw, before I summoned them to meet with BlendTec and me as finalists.

I can’t wait to see the videos. I didn’t know you were on wife swap! I have spent all morning trying to find the episode you were on. I had no such luck. Will you let us know how we can watch it or when it might air again, I am a huge fan and can’t get enough. =)
Angela, I don’t think ABC posts old episodes of Wife Swap anywhere!
Robyn, How do you subscribe to GreenSmoothieGirl channel on YouTube? Thanks!
This is SO cool, Robyn! I am excited to see this series.
Does anyone know how to subscribe to a you tube channel? I have never heard of that. Thanks!
Diane, just search YouTube for the GreenSmoothieGirl channel, and while you’re there, you’ll be given the option to Subscribe.
Hi Robyn, I know this is off the subject a bit but would you recommend a natural make-up? I’m just trying 100% Pure brand and like it so far. Wondered what you go with. 100% Pure is a bit pricey but i’m conservative and make it last. It’s hard finding good make-up. Pam
Pam, I hope to do some research on that at ExpoWest next month in Anaheim. I don’t have anything great to recommend just yet, sorry.
Robyn, Will you be having any speaking arrangements when you come to Anaheim?
If someone wants to set me up a host, I will speak in Anaheim, Friday night, Mar. 11. They need to be able to seat 60+. Family-owned health food stores are the best.
Robyn, I agree, I would love to see that episode of Wife Swap. I don’t like watching the show because they do pair such extremely different families together. Can you find out when it will air again?
I also have a question, I have 3 children (11, 8, 6) and my 8 year old is a “sugar-holic”. I make green smoothies every day, but he is the one asking if he can have them every other day instead. He said he doesn’t like them. When he tells me he is hungry, I tell him to have some carrots and he walks away. He had 1 small piece of celery with peanut butter, but then asked if he could have just peanut butter. As a matter of fact, his 6 ounce juice cup is in the refrigerator with the remaining 3 ounces for when he gets home from school. I was just wondering if you had some extra tips to send my way.
