I've got a great little video to show you one of my detoxing magic tricks, a way to kill millions of bad breath and cavity-causing bacteria, giving you fresh breath first thing in the morning!
In this article:
What Is Oil Pulling?
Oil pulling is a simple habit that comes from a centuries-old Ayurvedic tradition.
This easy process kills harmful microorganisms in the mouth and teeth, alkalizes the mouth, and may even turn around oral or dental infections.
Many use it to resolve headaches, as well.
Oils have an affinity for toxins, and this habit is a great purifying practice that you can do every day — and especially while doing a detox or cleanse, like my 26-Day Detox.
Many biological dentists (including mine) recommend it for remineralizing bone in the teeth.
Oil pulling has many health benefits, like oral detoxification and even resolving headaches

How To Oil Pull
I suggest keeping a tub of coconut oil and some wintergreen essential oil in your bathroom to make oil pulling as convenient as possible.
Watch me demonstrate oil pulling in the short video above, and learn more ways you can benefit from taking a few minutes with coconut oil, while making breakfast or getting dressed in the morning, for a great new health habit!
And one more thing!
Be sure you spit the oil into the garbage NOT the sink or toilet, because the oil can buildup and clog your plumbing.

Can’t watch the video.
Seems your privacy settings are preventing us from viewing as it’s coming up as private on our end.
Very important to tell people NOT to spit it in the sink or anywhere it will get in the water pipes as they will clog. Spit it in the trash.
I add activated charcoal and a mix of essential oils to mine, like clove, rosemary, eucalyptus, lemon and tea tree.
Will add Wintergreen to my routine thanks
Can’t see anything.
Hi Hal, try restarting your computer and trying again. That may help.
Thanks! Le’s see results then. I am using olive oil for now.
I do this but I haven’t tried to add any essential oils to it. Do the oil increase the effectiveness or are they just for taste? You forgot to mention…Do not spit oil down the sink. LOL
Hi, essential oils can provide some additional benefits, however, if you don’t have any essential oils, the coconut oil itself does the trick.
She did mention not to spit in sink or toilet!
Great video going to start doing as like all natural products. Plus detoxifies and helps mouth become alkaline. Thanks for doing this.
You are welcome Ira!
Do you need to use the essential oil or can you use the coconut oil by itself for this?
Hi Tammy, you can just use the coconut oil itself.
Ok I just tried this for the first time! I don’t know how you put so much in your mouth…I felt like I was going to drown! LOL. I made it 11 mins. My vigorous swishing through my teeth made it spout out of my lips a couple times but I survived! It was a comical experience and my dog was watching me tilting her head back and forth. I will try again in the morning! 🙂
Hi Denise, congrats on making it 11 minutes! I couldn’t the first few times. You can use less amount if it makes you feel better.
Spit out in the trash can. It will clogg your plumbing if you spit in sink or toilet.
Happy blessed New Year!
Why do you have to use such a huge amount for this?
IMPORTANT FOR YOUR ORAL MICROBIOME!!
OIL PULL **ONLY FOR A COUPLE WEEKS AT A TIME
Famed biocompatible/holistic dentist Gerry Curatola warns
(I typed out two versions of essentially the same comment on two different videos — one was episode 8 of GMOs Revealed):
"If you keep doing oil pulling, you go from a hypertrophic biofilm, the thick, sticky, smelly stuff all over your teeth, to a desert. Really, you want be in the middle of the target. You don’t want scary, thick, smelly jungle. Nor do you want a desert. You want to be right in the middle, with that beautiful, robust garden."
"For a short period alone, oil pulling can help someone whose mouth is unhealthy, as the “detergent action” of swishing olive or coconut oil between the teeth has a “lilophilic effect,” stripping away unhealthy plaque (hypertrophic biofilm) from teeth. Continued use can actually result in an equally unhealthy atrophic or stripped biofilm. While a hypertrophic environment is often associated as being conducive to tooth decay and gum disease, atrophic environments often result in tooth sensitivity and sore gums. The key is BALANCE or what we call “microbial homeostasis.” When in balance, the microbes in our mouths literally keep us alive."
Thank you for taking the time to post this important information
the problem I have is that I salivate profusely when pulling and have to keep spitting some out. After a while I suspect I’m pulling more saliva than oil
It’s important to spit the oil into the garbage NOT the sink or any plumbing. It can accumulate and clog plumbing.
Great point, Jeanette. We’ll add this to the article. Thank you!

Excellent video. Have been oil pulling for quite a long time now and my dentist has asked what I have been doing. I have also used clove oil too but mint is my favorite. The mouth is and feels so clean.
