{Video}Making Nut And Seed Milks

My friend Jenni is gluten intolerant, and taught me how to make coconut milk.

Here’s my video on how to replace dairy milk with yummy and nutritious milks from sesame, almond, cashew, or even your shredded coconut from the group buy.

Jenni makes coconut milk, and then, with the pulp left over in the nut milk bag, she makes coconut macaroons:

Coconut Macaroons

6 egg whites (organic, free range eggs)

¼ tsp. Original Crystal Himalayan Salt

½ cup maple syrup

2 tsp. of no-alcohol vanilla

1 cup coconut pulp (from making coconut milk)

2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut

Blend egg whites and salt until stiff peaks form. Fold in vanilla, maple syrup, and coconut with a spoon until just mixed. Drop batter onto a parchment-lined baking sheet by rounded tablespoons. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

    Great video! I love using organic and natural products. They certainly have helped me a great deal. I am also a nurse and have several certificicates in other modalities as well, iridology, reflexology, master herbalist. I am currently pursuing an advanced degree in complementary alternative medicine and the courses that I have been taking are rich in nutririon and holistic health. I have changed my way of eating about 3 years ago and have been doing green smoothies off and on for about 2 years and I can personally vouch for their healing value. I have a natural body products company on the side so I have been purchasing my organic and healthy foods from a company that has excellent products as well, and I totally support Robyn’s take on nutrition and staying away from the processed, foods that are less than adequate for nutrition. I am quite passionate about teaching my clients about nutrition and I am very glad to see someone put as much energy into such a worth while endeavor. Thank you Robyn for all of your efforts!

    What type of fabric was the nut and seed bag made from? I LOVE making coconut and almond milk, but I use cheese cloth to strain and it is a pain. Also, what brand of stevia do you use? I have been buying some at winco for fairly inexpensive, but I just looked at the ingredients and it has a bunch of other crap in it. Thanks so much for this video, I love it, watched it like 4 times, Thanks!

    Hello Robyn, thanks for great videos.

    Today I made a coconut milk from a fresh open coconut, not the young thai but ordinary brown you get from supermarket as I still didn’t find where to get them here. Anyway, I wasn’t sure about the ratio to water. So I did it 1 cup of coconut meat to 4 cups water, but it seemed little bit thin comparing to other nut milks I make. I was also wondering if there is too much of coconut oil in the milk after straining it, as when I was straining it my hands got covered in the coconut oil so I just rubbed it all over them, such nice moisturiser :). What are your thoughts on this? Thank you so much

      Hi Stani, those hard brown coconuts are a completely different thing. I haven’t tried that. You can buy coconut liquid in cans at Asian markets and health food stores, if you can’t get them to order young Thai coconuts for you.

    Hi Robyn,

    I understand the importance of raw almonds, however I live in Canada and cannot be a part of your group buy. I have not found a way to get the raw ones. I buy my almonds from Cosco and I thought that they were raw until I read on here that they are not.

    Would it still be beneficial to soak them? Or am I not getting any extra nutrition from them?

      I wouldn’t bother soaking and dehydrating Costco almonds.

    I make my own coconut milk too. I alternate between using fresh coconuts or shredded coconut (when I need it quick and easy).
