Lisa Goes Raw and Eliminates Lupus Symptoms

In Denver this summer, I met Lisa, who was, not long ago, completely debilitated by Lupus. Here’s her story, in 4 minutes, that I hope inspires you, if you have an auto-immune condition, to change your nutrition.

(Sorry it was windy, which affected the sound. TURN IT UP!)

I have been studying the methods of the natural practitioners lately (Wigmore or Gerson clinics, for instance), and one of the highest SUCCESS rates are with auto-immune conditions like Lupus.

I just watched a few YouTube videos of people with Lupus, talking about what a day in their life is like—a very depressing 15 minutes. People grotesquely swollen from steroids, devastated immune function allowing staph infections and bronchitis and pneumonia. Folks undergoing surgeries to address necrosis from the drug complications, every joint in their body aching, a need to sleep all day long. A deceased Lupus victim’s son saying, “The drugs trying to save you from Lupus kill the rest of your body.”

It recommits me to do what’s in my power to strengthen immune function and prevent these horrific diseases including fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, etc. For me, my children, my readers.

Sitting around hoping they’ll find a drug that “cures” it or throwing money at pharmaceutical companies, to that end, seems a big mistake. (Apparently, the last time they found a new drug for it, Eisenhower was in the White House.)

Other REALLY treatable conditions we get constant emails about, highly responsive to treatment using excellent nutrition: type II diabetes and heart disease.

It’s worth it, to expend the effort to return to eating the way people did when cancer affected 1 in 100, rather than 1 in 3, and Lupus was unheard of. Thanks for inspiring us, Lisa!

    Hi Robyn, I loved this video, so inspiring! After it was done, I couldn’t help but watch all the associated you tube videos that popped up after. Heart-wrenching testimonials about autoimmune diseases taking enormous tolls on people’s lives. Please don’t stop what you’re doing, it is truly God’s work. It was all I could do to keep myself from putting the link to this blog entry on every video I watched. I don’t know how you contain yourself! <3

  3. Sorry, I’m new to your site, so I don’t know how to start a new topic, but I just told my friend with lupus about this blog and website and that she MUST read it!

    I purchased your 12 steps and just finished reading “The Green Smoothie Diet” and am so excited. I’ve been telling everyone I can think of how to prevent illness and improve their health!!! Thank you so much Robyn. You are really onto something here and I know it’s been inspired by God. I also love the way you write. You are so encouraging and interesting! I was sad when I finished your book not to have your encouraging words to support me.

    Question: In your above book you made reference to releasing a ton of resentment by cleansing, or releasing or letting go of protein. I want to know how you did that. Did you accomplish this just by doing the quart of green smoothie a day or did you do it with the 1 month cleanse of green smoothies only? Also, I have tons of food sensitivies and there’s not much I can eat without reacting to it. Do you think doing the month cleanse would significantly speed up my healing of sensitivities? It would be really hard to do the month cleanse, so I need to see the BIG motivation to do it. 🙂 Releasing of resentment is great motivation too though.

      Jetta, i had that profound experience doing the Arise & Shine cleanse. It is kinda pricey, the products about $250. However, i have moments of that pure joy and love that is only possible when my body is clean and pure… that my spirit and emotions can be…..simply from the way I eat. Smoothies are just one way to start on the path. That’s all they are. Smoothies are not magic. You can get whole, raw, living plant foods in lots of ways. The green smoothie is just one QUICK way to jump start the process and start seeing QUICK, measurable, exciting gains that have a quick impact on your emotional health, as well as physical, which keep you motivated and wanting to progress to the next level, and the next, and the next!

    Hi Robyn

    I have another immune disease, rhuematoid arthritis and have just stareted following your

    raw food diet, not always perfect but I am trying. Just when I thought I had it figured out ie:making and drinking almond milk, eating fruits, green smoothies etc. along comes Dr Mercola’s article

    on too much fructose, now I am confused. I love fruit, and love it in my green smoothies. What is your take on eating too much fruit? Maybe you have already commented somewhere if so please direct me there.

      Cindy, that is Mercola’s opinion based on a current fad. Mercola himself eats bacon and eggs, etc. You would be wise to get rid of gluten grains for a period of time while you beat your inflammatory condition(s). And too much fruit is NOT generally a common American dietary problem. It’s possible to get out of balance eating too much fruit, I suppose, but I’d worry about eliminating the processed foods. Then fine tune about the fruits later if you need to see more health gains. I would like to see you maximize greens (which involves minimizing fruits) in your green smoothies, just because greens are so alkaline, so effective at blood sugar control, so helpful for getting control of inflammation.

    A post script on above comment–he also says we should eliminate grains? This is why all this nutrituion advice is so confusing there are so many differing opinions that I feel like my head spins sometimes 🙂

    Thank you so much for your advice. I will try to maximize more greens. I will read up on elimating gluten also. I just picked up a bunch of organic kale and spinach from the farmer’s market this morning. Trying to stock up as the season here in Wisconsin is winding down. Have you ever thought of coming to Wisconsin for a seminar 🙂
