“I love my body,” part 4 of 4

Dear GreenSmoothieGirl: “Should I do a cleanse, and what products should I use?”

Answer: I think hardcore colon cleanses are something you should do only a few times in a lifetime. (They are invasive. Plan on a need to rebuild a healthy colonization of intestinal flora with a high-raw diet and lots of probiotic for a couple of months afterward.) I recommend instead participating in the GSG Detox Program which will clean out the toxic sludge that has built up in your digestive tract for decades, as well as chemicals accumulated in your liver, kidneys, skin, and lymphatic system. This program is a very thorough cleans, but not as invasive as some of the other colon cleanses available.

Also, on a pretty regular basis, I take a day or two to let my body rest if I’ve not eaten as well as I normally do. If I’m feeling a little off, a little low-energy. If I’ve gained a few pounds. If I’m traveling.

    Hey Robyn,

I saw your advertisement with your 21-Day Detox. I am really interested but I am also approaching 30wks of my first pregnancy (new adventure, really excited! Starting my little family in a healthy direction… woo hoo!)
Will this detox be safe/right for a pregnant woman? It seems nutritionally great but wondering if it would be neglecting something my baby/body might need.
    Would love your insight!

    GI Jill

Hi Jill, well, I did green detoxes with my last pregnancies, but you of course have the possibility that detox reactions might be unpleasant. (Some people who have been eating the “S.A.D.” experience diarrhea, headaches, stuff like that, for a short time. And so you may want to modify slightly, with a bit of cooked food (still plant-based) to slow down the cleansing experience. Your baby is blessed that you’re learning all this good stuff NOW. Congrats!!

I checked out the Arise & Shine cleanse…which one did you do/recommend? Did you purchase the recommended supplements? Thanks!

I am trying to find a quick meal replacement for weight loss and thought I would look on your blog. I came up with this link but you don’t name the meal replacement you like in this write up…can I get the name? Or is there a current product you would recommend. My friends are doing isagenix and being very successful and I need something quick like that when I can’t make my gs.
