Have you always wanted to know how, exactly, you’re supposed to be skin brushing? Brandi at Oasis knows the lymphatic system and explains that all to us. She’s a former E.R. nurse who now does lymphatic drainage therapy fulltime. Dr. Lodi raves about the benefits he sees from this.

    Google lymphatic drainage and watershed for articles, courses and books. So interesting! The ones I skimmed so far are about massage, and not brushing.

    Really interesting and informative. I would also love some sort of diagram to follow or even a more thorough video demonstration. I’ve watched the video several times but it was a little unclear about the back and also the legs. Does the watershed divide the leg left/right or is it front/back? Thanks!

    Do you have a number for Brandi, and does she do lymphatic treatments on people? Also, do you do this daily and where to you get the brush? I have a rare condition called lipodema, where my body stores adipose fat symetrically in both sides of the body from the ankles up (does not effect the feet) and goes up to the waist and hips. It is hard to keep weight off and a never ending battle. I would really like to work with you one on one and see if there is anything we can do to reduce or eliminate this. I am willing to stick to a program and be the test model for this. I have tried everything that I know of and medical doctors just seemt to say hhhmm? Meanwhille I do not wear dresses above the ankle and my knees, hips and thighs have extra weight and it all looks very abnormal. Like I have cankles and fatty knees. So I never wear shorts, swimsuits or anything that shows my leg from the ankle up. I really need your help and hope that you might work with me?

    Thank you, same as above, i seem to have had not so detailed info i was working/brushing with. This video was so concise and informative. I now feel empowered to do this rather than “well, I hope I do this right and don’t so more harm than good”. I had NO IDEA of the ‘watersheds’ Great Explination! Altough, the first time I body brushed (with limited info) I detoxed so hard I was in bed. Tapping into such a powerful system of our bodies is wonderful. Thank you, both.

    Hi Robyn,

    Two questions- I am super new to skin brushing and loved the video. Thank you! Would you be open to doing a video on what a whole brushing session would look like- it would help us visual learners 🙂 Also, as you are visiting these different centers what type of water are they encouraging- spring water, distilled, reverse osmosis purified? Thank you so much for all you do!

    Thank you for all your help. I am wondering if I need to do anything different near my breast area. I had breast cancer and a mastectomy with reconstructive surgery on my left breast 7 months ago. I wasn’t sure if I should be doing this near my armpit. I only had one lymph node removed for testing but did not need chemo or radiation. But I do have numbness in the left arm pit. I have had my skin brush for many years but have not been using it since my cancer diagnosis. Please explain if this whole process is safe after having breast cancer. I did hear you say something about b.c. but could not really hear what it was. thank you kindly!

    Thank you for sharing this. I’m a bc survivor & was taught lymphatic massage (not brushing though- I picked that up later). So there were similarities & differences. I was taught to brush down the armpit but also to clear the opposite side first & they seemed to think the lymph could be drained from one side to the other (finding new pathways I think they called it). So I have to relearn a few strokes but hopefully it’ll become second nature. I know what she’s talking about when she says lymphatic congestion – NOT comfortable. To Beverly above – yes it’s very important. I had 3 lymph nodes removed. We have a lifetime risk of lymph edema. So we really need to keep that lymph moving.

    Andrea and everyone else 🙂 : I have a simple diagram I am willing to share, email BrandiRN.CLT@gmail.com and I will email it to you. I am in the process of creating a more user friendly, laminated version and will let Robyn know when I have it.

    Tirza: The chart is useful, though it is a bit different than I am teaching you.

    Cherish: The brush brittles need to be a natural source and stiff, yet you don’t want to leave marks on your skin with it. The stiffer the brush the better the actual skin benefits are.

    Stani: You are correct 🙂 back of shoulder up over the shoulder to the collar bone.

    Kay: If you don’t yet have edema issues then you want to continue to brush the same, reinforcing the pathways you have remaining to keep up the hard work!

    Beverly: This process is more important now than ever before, you want to keep the lymphatics open and moving to help prevent a reoccurrence. With continued brushing and if you are able to find a therapist in your area, you can reverse the numbness in that arm. PLEASE brush your entire body, very important and be assured that you will only help your body by strengthening your immune system.

    Jessica: Will have to get with Robyn and see if another video can or will be done, and as for water, look for water that is pH neutral or alkaline, most easily accomplished with minerals in it to get the most out of hydrating your cells. Reverse osmosis, while extremely clean, it is stripped of minerals and therefore highly acidic.

    Connie: Please email me, I will help you find someone in your area or if you are in the Phoenix area, I do have a private practice as well as the clinic. This therapy can help lipoedema, it will take time to break down the fat stores but in the interim it can help move the fluid that is accumulating around the fat stores and reduce the pain associated with it.

    Hello Brandi, thank you for that informative video,it was passed onto me today from a youung gentlemen I had met at a Health store who was helpful in sharing this bit of innformation. Watching the video was very valuable information. I am wanting to start dry brushing as I hear about all the benefits however, like others I have only known or heard about dry brushing from the bottom up and towards the heart. Seeing the clip gives you a different understanding but still not enough to really go by. I would like to feel confident in my techniques in dry brushing as I wish to incorporate it into my regular morning routine.

    This is the best information about brushing and the lymphatic system that I have come across. I have just begun skin brushing regularly, and I will make it a permanent part of my life. Too bad I had to get bc to remember about skin brushing – and to realize its importance. I am sending this site to my nutritionist/homeopathic doctor. Thank you SO much!

      Start on the left side but when do you switch to the right? Do you do all left then right, or do left arms then right arms, left leg then right leg, etc.
