What to do about my “cloudy” blender jar
Dear GreenSmoothieGirl: I love my Vitamix / Blendtec, but the jar gets cloudy. What do I do?
Answer: This is what BlendTec customer service says:
1. Juice of 1 lemon, 2-3 Tbsp of baking soda, and some water. Then, run to speed ten and scrub with non-scratch sponge.
2. Vinegar mixed with baking soda (and water) will also work, OR 1-2 Tbsp powdered dishwasher detergent dissolved in 1-2 cups hot water that is left to soak for 1 hour.
3. To get “smells” out, just grinding up a lemon works like it does for your garbage disposal.
My magic eraser works well too to get the jar clean as well and the base unit. I just can’t seem to get the crevices in the clear plastic part of the lid clean. Maybe I will try soaking it vinegar as you mentioned above.
Thank you so much Robin! For the past few weeks I’ve been looking at my Vita-Mix and wondering how in the heck to really clean it.
The lemon/baking soda worked the best for me.
Really appreciate it!
Which product does your Water Filters fit (Pitcher or Water faucet)?
lemon/bakingsoda, never thought of that, thanks!
Also tip from my hubby the greensmoothie dude…. wash & WIPE after use right away! He insists to do that with our new four sided BlendTec container…& it does sparkle now…hmmm think he has something here
