Friends in Texas eating whole foods
Here’s a fun letter I got from Kascia in Texas. (Some may remember that I said in 2009 that San Antonio, Texas is officially the worst food, in terms of nutrition, of everywhere I’ve traveled in the past several years–which includes many states and over 20 countries.) I share this because you can go from discouraged to ECSTATIC, from simple changes in lifestyle, and I believe this letter is the perfect example:
Thanks for all you have done! We are big fans here in Weatherford, Texas, the cutting horse capital of the world! You have been a God-send! Thank you! I have always wanted to find the truth in nutrition. I have had some wonderful guidance through my youth up until now but implementing good health to a husband (whose only vegetable served on his plate was a potato) and children became a struggle for me. My family was getting burnt out with my lack of variety! I finally contacted my cousin who was pursuing her Master’s Degree in Raw Nutrition and she sent me ALL her recipes! I was so thankful and then she asked, “Have you heard of Green Smoothie Girl?” And since then, we have been drinking Green Smoothies and implementing your 12 Steps To Whole Foods!! You are a GENIUS!
Texas is a hot place and Travis, my husband, works in the heat all day training cutting horses! He used to drink Gatorade but not anymore. He is the only one at the barn who doesn’t start his day off with coffee and has a Green Smoothie instead. He gets a few looks but they call him Super Man because he doesn’t drink Gatorades or coffee! They wonder how he is surviving in the heat! Travis is still a “Cooked Dad” away from home but he supports me one hundred percent in my pursuit of a healthy family. He will always eat what I serve! I am thankful to him for that!
Asher is our three year old cowboy and he loves green smoothies! The little guy is a roper and is quite impressive. He can catch anything that moves! He has a lot of energy and a lot of smarts and I contribute it all to the Green Smoothies and the vegetables he eats on his plate. Asher has to drink his green smoothie with straws and in the picture you will see he has FOUR straws! I promise his green smoothie mustache was not staged for these pictures. He saw his little sister with a mustache and wanted one too! You will never catch him without that hat on, his jeans, boots, and spurs!
Lily is also a green smoothie lover! As you can see from her pictures she drinks every last drop and has another glass! The two of them always drink their smoothies better outdoors because that is where they live, OUTSIDE! Lily is sixteen months old and can hang all day with her three year old brother! I am still nursing her. She sometimes drinks more than her brother and I think she even eats better than Asher. She will even eat raw onions. But I know I started her out with even more knowledge than I had with Asher!
THANK YOU GREEN SMOOTHIE GIRL!!!
If I can ever do anything for you here in Texas, let me know! I have been spreading the word!
All our love,
Kascia, Travis, Asher, and Lily
