Root canals….at the root of much disease?

Over 20 million root canal surgeries are done each year in the U.S. alone. I unfortunately have had two of them, before I knew that I had any other option. Dr. James Howenstine says, “Many chronic diseases, perhaps most, are a result of root canal surgery.”

This week I’ve been studying literature on cancer clinics in Germany and Switzerland to see if I want to visit any of them. Dr. Rau of the clinic Paracelsus, said that 147 out of 150 breast cancer patients had root-canal infected teeth on the meridian that includes the breast. Of non-breast cancer patients, only 35 percent had root canals on that meridian.

A root canal is done to save a deeply infected dead tooth that would otherwise have to be removed. You have 3 miles of tubules in every tooth, so it is not believable if a dentist says he cleaned and sterilized everything before capping the dead tooth. Bacteria, viruses, yeasts, fungi, and molds, are then trapped there.

White blood cells do not travel so deep. These organisms, then, morph to learn to live in the absence of oxygen, causing all kinds of health problems. Dr. Hal Huggins writes of those pleomorphic organisms becoming thio-ethers, the strongest poisons on the planet that are not radioactive.

Dr. Weston A. Price most famously discovered that if you implant a diseased tooth in an animal, that animal develops the diseases of the host. Other experts have written extensively about the problem of leaving a dead tooth in the mouth and sterilizing and packing some of the channels but not others.

Most of the research I have seen linking root canals to a phenomenal amount of seemingly unrelated disease is indirect, such as what I quoted from Dr. Rau above. It predominantly notes that those found to have a variety of diseases have a much higher-than-average rate of root canals. Though the links are indirect, there are many of them—it seems unwise to me to ignore them.

Medical and dental sources you may wish to consult confirming what I’m writing about today are Dr. Weston Price, Dr. Karen Shrimplin, Dr. Frank Jerome, Dr. Josef Issels, Dr. James Howenstine, Dr. Hal Huggins, and Dr. George Meinig (author of The Root Canal Cover-up, summarizing the 1200 pages of published work by Dr. Price).

Any reader who would like to point us to root-canal alternatives, please do!

if you want alternatives to root canals, fluoride, and amalgam fillings, or if you want your amalgam fillings removed, you may wish to find a holistic dentist, also known as a biological dentist. In Utah County, we have Dr. Wendell Robertson.  In Salt Lake County, try Dr. Mark Flack. Holistic dentists nationwide are invariably involved in the fight against fluoridation of the water supply.

Locally, Dr. Flack calls attention to some of his patients’ allergic reactions to fluoride, and to a Massachussetts study of 280,000 children that fluoride in water caused children to absorb lead.

Incidentally, I do not know either of these dentists so I wouldn’t go so far as to call this a recommendation—I know they’re holistic, and I know they’re brave to stand up to the ADA. But I don’t know if they’re good, so you’ll have to find this out for yourself. Should a root canal be advised for anyone in my family, I will definitely be contacting them in the future.

the raw food diet and swine flu

I hope you’re undertaking a raw food diet while it’s in season? This is the time of year your body wants to cleanse. If you do, you have much lower risk of getting ill this winter, because you’ll be going into that higher-risk time much cleaner and stronger. And that’s important as we face Round 2 of the swine flu possibly this fall.

My friend and tenant, Jean, who lives in my basement and with whom I spend a lot of time, had the swine flu and is still recovering two weeks later. She had to cancel an airline trip, she missed a lot of work, and she coughed for two hours every night. My 15-year old son had it, too.For him (a daily green smoothie drinker), it lasted two days, and besides fever and chills at night, he was up doing his summer school work during the day and rafted the Provo River with us the third day.(We used no drugs to treat his illness. We did use Vitamin C, and colloidal silver.)

My children have been in California for a week with their father and his fiancé, at the family reunion. My other three children were exposed to swine flu and I’m not there with my remedies.I can’t even reach them, as they are camping in the mountains. If I didn’t know that before they went to the reunion (where the traditional Standard American Diet will prevail), they had excellent nutrition, I’d be panicked.Every single time they go to their dad’s family reunions, they puke their guts up because they’re not used to eating like that. When your body says, “NO THANKS!” it’s not a sign of weakness–it’s a sign of strength! I’ll keep you posted on whether or not that happened this time.

I have told you before that eating a clean diet and drinking lots of alkaline water is the best prevention for the swine flu. It’s not that you can’t possibly catch any virus. It’s that your immune system isn’t constantly fighting and weakened by toxic fuel, so it’ll be much more likely to serve you well when you need it.

Are you considering a higher commitment to a raw food diet? Now’s the time!

swine flu prevention: should you worry?

I hope you aren’t worried about the swine flu.   Like you, I’ve been reading all about it.   I am simply not worried.   Not because I don’t understand the risk, but because by following a few simple practices, you minimize your risk, and the rest is in God’s hands anyway, where we would do well to leave the remainder.   “Do your best and forget the rest,” as Tony says in P90X, the extreme workout regimen I started this week.   Or, as an embroidery sampler said that my mother did, hanging on her wall as I was growing up, “God grant me the wisdom to change the things I can and accept the things I cannot.”

All that written, I got the devastating news last night that my beautiful 36-year old cousin I grew up with, who had no known health problems and was a normal weight, has passed away on the way to the hospital of cardiac arrest after contracting the flu.   (Swine flu is not suspected.)   My extended family is reeling and we are praying for her young family that includes three little boys.

I don’t think the answers lie in extreme precautions, running out and buying gas masks and paraphernalia.   Experts I have read say that the little germ masks won’t do us a bit of good against the swine flu.   Washing your hands well, not touching doorknobs and other things in public, and staying out of crowds is common sense wisdom.

Adding to your food storage some power foods and natural remedies against illness is wise.   Vitamin C, colloidal silver, oregano, garlic, sproutable seeds/nuts/grains, spirulina, cacao, goji berries, cayenne, aloe vera, and ginger.

Drink lots of water (half your weight in ounces), jump on a rebounder, get enough sleep, and get out in the sun at least 15 minutes daily for your Vitamin D–these four things are paramount to keep your immune system supported and lymph fluids moving and draining.   Minimize stress and maximize love in your life.   Don’t exhaust your adrenal glands with eating sugar, and nourish all the organs of your body with whole plant foods, mostly raw.

Thinking that because we’re healthy and have nourished our immune system should give us lots more confidence, but of course it was the healthy/young in the population who died en masse in the flu epidemic of 1918.   (Usually those with strong immune systems do well, and I see no evidence to the contrary so far with the swine flu.)   So observing the simple precautionary behaviors mentioned above would be wise as well.

Indulging in fear and panic is not wise, and it’s paralytic and unhelpful anyway.  My prediction is that this is not going to be a massive pandemic; it will go away soon, though we may have a Round 2 in the fall.   Most who get the swine flu will find that it’s no worse than the usual influenzas that some people contract in the winter.

If I’m right, that will give you some time to focus on preparedness, including a three-month supply of food so you could stay home if you needed to.
