where do we get the most radiation?

Here’s an interesting  Associated Press story today for your consideration since we’ve been talking about radiation exposure from cell phones. To summarize it, we get more radiation from medical testing than anything else, including airport scans and cell phone use. Preventative medicine is the best way to avoid those medical tests. (My older son recently […]

processed meat: it’s on my “never” list

If you’ve read my books, you know there are two foods I never eat and I don’t let my kids eat either. We are virtually 100% about good nutrition at home, but at a party or in a restaurant, we make good choices but aren’t perfect. The two “over my dead body” foods, though: One, […]

I found the coolest muscle stim / massage gadget

Stress after work, stiff neck, joint pain, sore feet, cramping legs, back pain, achy shoulders? You will love this! When I went to Expo West in Anaheim recently, I saw 1,900 booths in 3 days! It’s like a trade-show marathon, that place! You could eat all kinds of “organic” and “natural” junk food. At the […]

How can I promote healthy school lunch in my area?

After my Renegade Lunch Lady blog entry, Emily asked, “What I want to know is what can I specifically do in my area?” She refers to turning nutrition around in the institutions that serve our children. Especially schools. And any organizations that outreach to families. Well, there are macro issues–for the community organizers and big […]

The “Renegade Lunch Lady” Chef Ann Cooper went to Washington, D.C. to investigate our first lady’s agenda. She ripped a hole in Michelle Obama’s “feel-good” childhood-obesity legislation, that has no funding and no policy “teeth.” I figured as much. Great platform, Mrs. Obama. Let’s make it reach to families and schools: Let’s get vending machines […]

the Renegade Lunch Lady

In Anaheim (I know! I still haven’t told you about the handful of cool products I found–but I will! And I bought some of them for you!) . . . I heard the coolest talk by Chef Ann Cooper, the “Renegade Lunch Lady.” She manages 30,000 kids’ lunches in the Boulder, Colorado area. Her goal […]

Do mammograms cause cancer?

Free radicals (atoms with unpaired electrons) cause cancer. Radiation (grossly simplified) is a massive amount of targeted free radicals used to detect cancer (also CAUSING cancer). This study does not surprise me, and it’s not the first study I have read with the same conclusion: http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20091201/hl_hsn/mammogramsmayboostcancerriskinhighriskwomen
