There’s an epidemic of mood disorders in the modern world, especially anxiety and depression. The three things I tell folks to do, because it’s really so very successful, when they tell me they struggle with either of those problems (same etiology), are:
1. Get off sugar
“(you are burning out your adrenal glands, which support stable, positive mood)”
2. Get in the sun a little, every day you can
3. Eat 2 Tbsp. sprouted flax daily
Sprouting your own flaxseed is really kind of a pain. The lignans make it very sticky and gummy when soaked. So I recommend this fabulous product, which tastes nutty and lovely and is a perfect addition to a green smoothie, or to your morning oatmeal or granola.
Flaxseed is linked to decreasing depression and anxiety. But it’s also linked to reducing cardiovascular disease, preventing breast, prostate, and colon cancers, and reducing inflammation problems (including asthma, allergies, and arthritis). Flaxseed is 70 times higher in the incredibly cancer-preventing compound lignans than any other food. And most famously, it’s very rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, which your body cannot manufacture and you need to receive daily from food.
Getting enough Omega-3’s is critical to maintaining endocrine health. Most women in the modern world have major hormonal problems, and sprouted flax is the very best way I know to address that.
Sprouting the flaxseed makes it easy to digest, with excellent live enzymes and much higher vitamin and mineral content than the non-sprouted seed.
It’s organic, and the blueberry or goji/cranberry varieties have some additional flavor and more power foods.
One of my favorite features of this product is that it has been tested up to 4 years shelf stable, making it a LIVE, high-nutrition food that you can store very safely against emergencies. (It has not been tested past four years, but for at least that period of time, the product did not go rancid—sprouting and then dehydrating it, and packing it in mylar bags, makes it preserved for the long term without chemicals added or living nutrients destroyed.)
I personally add this sprouted flaxseed to my Hot Pink Breakfast Smoothie every morning (see Ch. 10 of 12 Steps, beets, carrots, coconut liquid, dates, cashews, frozen strawberries, and flaxseed).
I’m quite positive you will love it. Try it here.
