Melaleuca Oil – A Healing Story by Laura
My daughter and her best friend’s family went on a trip this summer to Georgia. A few weeks before the trip, my daughter’s friend had her belly button pierced. While on the trip she was swimming in a public pool along with tubing in a river. She came home with an infected belly button. Her mother, who is a non-believer in the oils, was going to take her to the doctor the next day. I asked her to come over so I could put some oil on the area. I used one drop of Melaleuca on the infected area. The next morning, all of the puss and redness were gone. Her mother even asked me what else she could use the oil for!

Lavender Oil – A Healing Story by Tammy
I have experienced (some may say suffer) post-partum and anti-partum depression/mood disorders several times. The moment I thought I might be pregnant with my most recent child I began my quest for a natural solution to this disorder. I had heard that essential oils can be a powerful tool for improving emotional well-being. I wanted to find out more so I searched the internet for “essential oils for postpartum depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder”. From that search I learned that Lavender essential oil, when smelled, can greatly boost one’s emotional well-being.
I like to know a little about how and why things work the way they do – especially something as seemingly simple and “unconventional” as essential oils. So, I did further research. I found that on emotional level Lavender oil is known as the “oil of communication”. It helps calm insecurities while relieving negative emotions such as feelings of being unlovable and unimportant. Lavender helps in giving one the courage to communicate their innermost thoughts and feelings.
Something to note about using essentials aromatically……We have what is called a limbic systemlimbic system which is the part of our brain that houses our emotions and memories. When an essential oil is inhaled those aromatic molecules go straight into the limbic system thus, producing an immediate emotional response. That is why smelling Lavender is effective in elevating negative mood states; it produces an immediate and positive emotional response.
With this new-found knowledge I used Lavender oil throughout the pregnancy. I’ll tell you, in struggling from post-partum depression I am grateful for a natural tool to help me communicate and feel loved – because isn’t that at least a part of what most experience when they are depressed? Feelings of being unloved and struggling with the inability to communicate those feelings – either out of fear or apathy?

Lavender Oil – A Healing Story by Tess
My niece got pink eye and was ready to go to urgent care to get some meds for it. I told her she could use my Lavender and Melaleuca essential oils. She put some of each on her eye sockets right under each eye for three days, and the pink eye disappeared. So much for urgent care and spending money on prescription drugs!

Serenity Oil Blend – A Healing Story by Tess
My sister-in-law has sleep apnea and sleeps with a CPAP machine. She also has anxiety issues and recently developed heart arrhythmia. I suggested that she use a drop of Serenity in her CPAP machine every night. She tried it for three days and said she slept better, felt calmer and ordered her own bottle of Serenity because she could really tell the difference in her sleep and anxiety.

I love doTerra Essential Oils and have collected as many as possible over the last six months or so. The DigestZen Oil is one I carry with me in my doTerra key chain. If I’m out and decide to “cheat” or eat something that doesn’t sit well, one drop of that on my tummy makes me feel better in 5 minutes. The first time I tried it, I couldn’t believe it! Plus, with my key chain, I can sneak into a restroom and put a drop on without anyone knowing. So EASY!

On Guard Oil Blend – A Healing Story by Tammy
While on the father/son outing this weekend my 4-year-old son began to cry complaining of a tooth ache. My husband took a look at it and saw a hole; the cavity was THAT big – yikes! My husband, not understanding oils, went and purchased acetaminophen and gave it to him. Jadon’s pain went away but it didn’t solve the problem. Drugs don’t heal; oils do.
Anyway, have you read the warnings on those drugs? “Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Warning: Severe liver damage may occur if your child takes more than 5 doses in 24 hours.”
When the boys returned I took my little Jadon and brushed his teeth with homemade tooth soap. Because of the cavity and pain accompanying it I added a drop of On Guard directly on the toothbrush. A few minutes after, I asked Jadon how his tooth was feeling and he said it no longer hurt. Brushing with the all-natural tooth soap and On Guard takes away his pain and assists in the healing process. I am also having him take nutritional and supplemental steps to assist his body in healing his tooth. Remember, the oils need nutrients to work with to work at their peak.
I’m so grateful I have the knowledge and tools to take care of this “little emergency”. What peace of mind it brings me.

Lemongrass Oil – A Healing Story by Tammy
I did a lot of research as I prepared for the home-birth of my most recent child. I’m not terribly pain tolerant; I have had an epidural and also had children using no kind of pain relief – natural or otherwise. I figured why suffer though if I don’t have to? I discovered that Lemongrass essential oil is a natural analgesic (pain reliever). Not only that, but it’s known to be helpful with exhaustion, increasing mental alertness, balancing emotions and it has a sedative effect. Works for me; I wanted to be relaxed, comfortable, coherent, and emotionally stable while at the same time having the energy needed to birth my child. Not to mention, it’s one of the cheaper oils. Sounded perfect!
On the night when birthing time began I rubbed the Lemongrass oil on my ankles every 15 minutes or as I felt I needed it, I also enjoyed smelling its uplifting citrus aroma. The power of the Lemongrass along with my relaxation techniques and health I’d worked so hard to maintain – was a powerful combination.
I’ll tell you, it was a miracle! I have NEVER had such an enjoyable birthing experience. I have never been so physically and emotionally calm and spiritually present during a birth.
Something to keep in mind about pain is that it is not just physical; it’s also emotional and spiritual. What is SO wonderful about the oils is that they address all 3 of the components of pain. I think that’s why I had SUCH a fabulous, transcending, life changing birth experience with this birth more, than previous ones.
When using oils for birthing and pain reduction, keep in mind that everyone’s body chemistry is different. What worked well for me may not work well for you. With this in mind I also chose to have on hand White Fir. Essential Oils for Maternity is a great resource for further information on this topic.

Purify Oil Blend – A Healing Story by Tammy
In our travels this year I’ve used Purify quite a bit. Who knows what kinds of germs, viruses and bacteria are lurking in public places. I don’t want to find out or take any home with me, so I keep a spray bottle of it in my car.
I have used it to spray down:
1. Hotel bedding and sheets
2. Rest stop restroom door handles and toilets – not only does that kill any germs but it makes the bathroom a little more bearable to be in as they can be odoriferous
3. Tables and high chairs in restaurants
4. Basket and cart handles in stores
5. To disinfect the inevitable scrapes the children always find a way to get
6. Children’s dirty hands after using the restrooms or touching things children touch
7. As an air freshener when we pass through an area that has been hit by a skunk, smells of livestock or some other offensive odor
The uses of Purify are virtually unlimited, these are just a few of the ways I’ve used it during our travels.

Melaleuca Oil – A Healing Story by Tammy
I have 6 children and all of them have had ear infections or discomfort. The last 5 have seen doctors for those infections, and most of the time taken harmful antibiotics. The difference with baby # 6 is essential oils. Each time she’s pulled on her ear or otherwise indicated ear discomfort I’ve gently rubbed some Melaleuca diluted in coconut oil (about 2 drops of oil to 1 tbsp. coconut oil) along the outside of her ear. When she had a very painful infection I put a drop of Melaleuca on a cotton ball, placed it on her ear canal, and added a warm compress. Melaleuca has done the trick each time. It’s a much safer and gentler, healing way to deal with ear infections.

AromaTouch Oil Blend – A Healing Story by Tammy
Relaxation in a bottle – that’s what I needed in my hurried state. I’m traveling a lot right now. This has resulted in my feeling very stressed and not being present or enjoying each moment. I needed something to help me slow down, take a deep breath and trust in a higher power to make up for what I couldn’t do. As I often do when I find myself in a negative mood state I turned to my Emotions and Essential Oils book. As I suspected, it had an answer for me; the Aroma Touch blend also called “The Oil of Relaxation”. Perfect. Since I was in such a hurry this is as close as I was going to get to a massage, which is often what people like to turn to for relaxation. It did the trick. I’m glad to have this “massage in a bottle” to turn to next time I start hurrying.
