James Lautner: Green Smoothies Are a Weight-Loss Miracle
James came to our Bakersfield class with his girlfriend, and his grandma who has a brain tumor. He has an amazing story, found GreenSmoothieGirl.com a year ago, where he wrote the day he found my blog. (His story is found in response to my musings on the book Eat, Pray, Love in June, 2010.)
Since then he has lost 90 POUNDS and can run and enjoy his life now! Here is his “BEFORE” photo, and here’s a little video of him talking to me after class. Do you have a story like this in you–but maybe you’re at the start of the journey?
GO JAMES! You’re an inspiration!

He’s adorable : )
Very motivating! Do you know exactly how James lost all of his weight? What did he eat through out the day? Thanks!
All he told me is that he drank a lot of green smoothies. But hopefully he’ll see himself here on the blog and answer that! I am waiting for my webmaster to post James’ “BEFORE” photo–which he didn’t, originally, when posting this blog this morning.
Awesome! James is an inspiration, and, you are as well, Robyn! Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
What a transformation in James! You can just see that he has such pride in himself in the video, not so much in the photo. Way to go James!!!
Wow! You look great, James. Your story is very inspiring to me. Thanks for posting this, Robyn.
Green smoothies can make you look great, while making you feel great. It takes time , but once it becomes part of your lifestyle you are changed for the better. It took me a while to see the difference, now I can’t go back to life without them.
This is the type of story that needs to get out there. Thanks for a great blog, that is easy on the eyes, and great to learn from.
So proud of you James!! Thank you for sharing! : )
way to go, your amazing!!!!
Great story! Very inspiring. Go, James!
Robyn, if I lose 90 pounds do I get a hug?
Seriously nice video would have been better without the ambient noise of the store. Hard to understand everything that was said.
Got the message though.
Ed, you can have a hug even if you don’t lose 90 lbs….we’re going to be doing more of these videos when we’re out in public and when I teach classes because I’m constantly hearing fantastic stories and I want to start capturing them. But yeah, they won’t be too professional because they’ll be live, at events….so turn the sound up! Another one is coming of a brave little mom whose daughter was diagnosed with Failure to Thrive….very exciting story from my class in Sandy last week!
And Jolene, keep on keepin’ on, and those pounds will really come off! Good work!
~Great job James~ I’m in the same boat. An intense desire to run yet unable to. I’ve lost a lot of weight (50lbs so far) and gone vegetarian but still have a minimum of 50lbs to lose before I am at a healthy weight for my body. I love my green smoothies, even my 4 children request them!
You Rock James!!!! I love it! I am still smiling and probably will be as i think about the change you made! You are an inspiration to many!!! Congratulations on taking back your life…. Carry On.
Thanks Robin for sharing this video – it’s rare to see such an honest, sincere endorsement. James looks so much healthier now, a testament to the Green Smoothie/Raw Foods eating. I posted on my FB page as many of my friends know about my passion for eating raw, plant based food.
We, too, started the green smoothie thing last October, & shed 20 lbs in the process. Although I didn’t have the health issues that James did, I do feel more energy & have stayed in good health. Colds don’t seem to effect me, so would assume that my immune system has benefited.
I work with weight releasement in my private practice. (many call it weight loss ~ I figure that no one, deep down inside, likes to lose anything except if they are in a country and western song!) So, we “release” our weight to the universe!
I refer my clients to your website and blog, as I believe you present great information on nutrition as well a practical advice on transitioning to a healthy eating lifestyle.
James is keeping hope alive. It always refreshing to see someone accomplish such a great thing that will impact your entire life !!!!! “YOU GO BOY”
So happy and proud of James! What a positive inspiration. Thanks so much for sharing.
