filming with Cornias, Total Care Dental today: and the Almond Joy Fudge recipe

I just filmed the beginning of Samantha Cornia’s GSG Makeover in her kitchen. What fun to get Gavin’s and Olivia’s first green smoothie on film. Olivia was born with her organs outside her body, and although doctors put it all back in, she suffers with terrible constipation and digestive problems.

Heading over to film with the Hot Dental Girls at Total Care Dental shortly, as Karen was ill and we have to postpone.

The Good Earth has decided to co-sponsor GreenSmoothieGirl Makeover, and each participant is getting $50 in free groceries for the 8 weeks that we do this program. We’ll be taking the participants into the store for a tour that we’ll film; I will teach them new ways to shop, what to get and why, and how to eat whole foods on a budget. Samantha was very moved by this gift–thank you Good Earth, you are the best!!

Here’s the last recipe from last week, out of Ch. 4–a great way to get both your chocolate fix, and coconut oil in your daily routine (I’ll be writing some interesting stuff about coconut oil soon):

Almond Joy Fudge

2 cups raw, organic agave

2 cups organic, extra virgin coconut oil

If your coconut oil is solid, place its container in a sink of hot tap water to melt it first. Then put both ingredients in BlendTec and add:

1 cup raw powdered chocolate (or unsweetened cocoa)

Blend well, then pour mixture into a bowl and stir in:

2 cups shredded coconut

2 cups chopped almonds

Pour the mixture into a 9×13 pan, chill 2 hours, and cut into squares to serve.

  1. First off please know that I am a green smoothie supporter all the way. Even my 15 year old boy drinks them and I go out of my way to read your posts to him about your boy who plays baseball. My son LOVES football, basketball and runs track…but only to keep in shape for football.

Anyway what caused me to post was my experience with an adult with severe cerebral palsy who also had SEVERE constant constipation.

When I began giving her greens (any greens or vegetables, salads) not just green drinks they just came back up in the form of vomit and black, it was horrible. She was so full of stuff she could not even process the greens. It took 17 days of a stool softener called polyethelene glycol powder (which normally takes only 3 days at max to clean out an adult) to move her bowels enough to begin the process of eating healthy.

I’m very happy to tell you that eating a healthy vegetable and fruit power packed diet with no white flours, no soda pop, very little sugar and many more changes she has only had to use the glycol powder 2 or 3 times over the past 2 years to help her.

I think it is also important to share that alot of the changes I made in her diet were a direct result of the information from your website, THANK YOU!!!

  2. The Almond Joy Fudge is the yummiest recipe ever. My hubby can’t get enough and neither can I. It is saving us from buying conventional candy bars. Cost a lot of money to make but is totally worth it. I even told my husband that I would forgo a birthday cake this year and just have this. Way awesome fudge.

  3. Robyn,

I have been a fan of yours for almost a year now. I have promoted your program and ideas to MANY people. I recently presented at a relief society night and taught everyone how to make a green smoothie, and talked about healthy fats. I can’t count the number of people I have refered to However, I have one concern. I am a dietitian and have run across a few times you have done some “dietitian bashing”. It is true of every profession that you will run across some “close minded” people. However, there are many intellegent, open minded, dietians that willingly embrace the best practices for healthy living. True, our education has some government standards taught in it, but does that mean we are all brainwashed? I know I am always open to science based information and do not blindly follow anyone. I think a better approach would be to try and get dietitians on board, instead of making us the bad guys. All of my co-dietitians that I interact with have loved your site as much as myself. I would think with your background, you would understand that there is a more positive way to present the information without bad mouthing a whole profession. We all want the best health for people, just like you. That is why we chose this profession. Many dietitians I know are constantly reading and learnig more…because, as you know, there is a plethora of information on this topic out there. Respectfully, Lisa

    1. Hey Lisa, good point. On the rare occasion I point out that most dieticians heavily promote meat and dairy, I do try to point out that there are definitely truth-seeking professionals in that field who know better… like you! In writing I have, I know, on the site. But please feel free to catch anyplace that I’ve not done that. My point is to help people understand they need to learn for themselves and not follow dogmas blindly because some of it is flawed. Thanks for the comment! SOOOO glad to hear from you–thanks for renewing my faith in the profession….you aren’t the bad guys of course.

  4. I know it won’t be as great…. but has anyone tried this recipe with carob powder? I am allergic to chocolate! Thanks! …Robyn, if I try it with carob, is there anything else you think I should add?? vanilla or ?

  5. We have made the recipe with carob at our house. My son did not clean it up but the rest of us did, but even he couldn’t resist. It was great. I didn’t add anything else just substituted straight accross carob for chocolate.

  6. This Almond Joy Fudge is beyond wonderful! I’ve shared it with so many friends and they love it too. I’m just starting this adventure of clean, healthy eating. My body feels so much better and the weight is coming off too (wasn’t my motive but a wonderful side affect. I tell so many of my friends about Green Smoothie Girl and how simple it is to incorporate into our lives. Thank you for being part of the movement to bring wellness back!
