Victoria Boutenko’s Green Smoothie Song–and me, giving her props

When my book The Green Smoothies Diet came out, last year, I got an email saying, “Who do you think you are? Victoria Boutenko invented the green smoothie! You owe her some credit!”

In fact, I give V. Boutenko, one of my heroes, credit every single time I speak. (Back me up here, if you’ve been to my classes?) Also I give her credit in my books. I love her, own every one of her book and her kids’ book, too. I want to give her a shout-out here, as I hear she is going through a very trying time because of her divorce.

Here is a goofy, sweet YouTube video she and her daughter Valya did, where she sings a song about green smoothies. I laughed all the way through it. (Maybe since I’ve been accused of being her lackey, I’ll do a song too—but it’ll be all edgy and rap):

Victoria, please know I think you’re so cute for doing that video. Thanks for your impressive and tireless efforts to educate people about the benefits of a raw, plant-based diet.

Here’s a video I made to give you the credit you deserve. Victoras Kulvinskas and others like Ann Wigmore may have “invented” ideas decades ago that led to the green smoothie concept. But, for the record, I think you’re a pioneer, and today I want to say, thank you and God bless you through this difficult time in your life.

Robyn, Someone hasn’t done their research. Yes you acknowledged her @ the Class in Ogden I attended this fall with 4 of my 6 kids in tow!

I’ve had a great time reading her books on Green Smoothie Revolution & Green for Life. I would bust out giggling some times. The two I can remember best are (1) When she & her husband are taking a lovely stroll in nature & she has a desire to reach down & start nibbling on the greens! Her body & taste buds craved & desired them. I love that, yes others would think that she was crazy, but I understand & love her for that!!! I’ve felt the same way, when I sit on the grass enjoying my family, and automatically reach down & pull some grass blades up, notice the tender roots & do a little nibbling myself : )

    (2) Is when Victoria is trying to perfect the green soup & Valya yells out to Sergei “Come QUICK!!! Mom is making the green goo”. How exciting when your children learn to love whats good for them too.

I’ve pulled this from my memory, and I should double check because I’m not sure if I got the recipe name quite right, Yet if you’ve read the book, you’ll remember the incident!

Those 2 stories give me a lot of joy & desire to be like her!

We can learn from many people, I appreciate that their is multiple sources to turn to. We all receive inspiration if we desire it, then we can bless others as we share just you & Victoria have done!

Have a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year with your family : ) I will be!

Just a little correction on a name. I know I would want to know if I spelled someone’s name incorrectly…it’s Victoras Kulvinskas…not Victor.

Many, many years ago, when I was reading up on the wonders of perimenopause, Anne Gittleman talked of ‘blended salads’. Bascially, a green smoothie. It sounded awful. I think she preceeded Victoria in this concept, but it wasn’t until I read Victoria’s book years later I could get my mind around it, and shortly after it was Robyn’s book that made me take the plunge. Same message through the years. My point isn’t Robyn ‘nabbed’ it from Victoria who ‘nabbed’ it from Anne – it’s that truths are eternal and ever present, and new people come along with the gift of explaining them for their time. I think pettiness and jealousy make people get all snarky about things like this. ‘Purists’ are often people who build up an ideology or knowledge around themselves to feel superior, but if they really were suprerior, they wouldn’t have to do that! Now all the people who are 100% raw can come down on Victoria for loosening up on that a little bit, and the ones that still think Victoira is legit (count me in that crowd) can come down on Robyn for horning in on Victoria. What nonsense! If you have to feel big by making others feel small, I wish you much happiness, but you won’t find it. And I don’t care how ‘raw’ or pure you are in your diet – if you aren’t also doing heart/soul work, you are not truly healthy.

I have so much respect for you now. Collaboration and coming together is the key.
Sergei, Victoria’s son, also did a You Tube raw food rap video called “Raw Food Kids” – it’s also really funny.

you people are retarded. so is this stupid victoria lady. people have been blending greens since blenders were invented. trying to squabble over who “invented” putting food in a blender is sad and pathetic. just eat healthy and move on. why do you have make everything into a cult?
