I’m teaching at the Zermatt this Thursday
Leslie Smoot puts on five-star classes at the Zermatt Resort in Midway. This Thursday, September 9, I am teaching STEP 10 of my 12 Steps to Whole Foods program–BREAKFAST!
So we’re serving breakfast, for lunch! We’ll be doing sprouted buckwheat blueberry pancakes, oat groat pudding, my famous Hot Pink smoothie, granola, and more–Leslie makes everything beautiful and highly organized.
(And, we’ll be filming, so please come be an “extra” in the cast!)
The subject of breakfast is on everyone’s mind as kids have gone back to school and we moms want the best fuel possible for our children.
Call Leslie Smoot to register for the class at 801-550-1881. Class fee is $20 with advance registration or $25 at the door. I will have 12 Steps to Whole Foods: The Complete Course available, if you’d like to avoid paying for shipping.
Hi Robyn!
I just hit 200 green smoothies on my Blendtec. Quite exciting for me- it usually goes up 2 every time I use it, so this really mean 100 green smoothies!
It made me curious- what does the counter on yours say?
Also, I listed to your BIG interview last night and you mentioned starting out with half greens, half fruit. Half how? In ounces? In blended amount? I paid attention today. My greens and 1/4 cup juice blended went to the 2 cup line. After I added bananas and berries, it went about the 4 cup line, maybe to 4 1/2 or 5 cups.
Thanks!
In cups. So about 1/3 water, 1/3 greens (liquified) and 1/3 fruit. So 3 cups water in the blender, add greens until the mixture is at 6 cups, then add fruit until it’s overfull (nearly 9 cups).
I don’t think my counter would really tell me anything valuable, since I use three different blenders, depending on the day. I use a blender an average of 4 times a day though!
What does the counter stand for? I don’t think it goes up just per use, cause even when I just pulse a time or two it goes up each time – right? I will have to pay more attention to that…but I am pretty sure it does. Thanks
Thanks for the 1/3-1/3-1/3 explanation.
I looked around your site but couldn’t find a servings of greens to blended greens ratio. If I blend greens until I have 1 cup, how many servings of greens is that?
Thank you!
I don’t know, Afton, but with those ratios, you get 15 servings of greens and fruit in a quart.
Thanks, Robyn.
So doing the math…
3 cups water, 3 cups greens, 3 cups fruit = 15 servings greens and fruit
That means 3 cups greens/fruit is 7.5 servings greens/fruit
So 1 cup is 2.5 servings.
Afton, I used the USRDA serving sizes in my calculations. Cereal bowl of spinach is a serving, 2 inch piece of cucumber is a serving, 10 berries is a serving, 1/2 a banana is a serving, etc. (Those are some I remember.)
