Crazy….
I just wanted to share what I read in our local Fort Collins, Colorado paper yesterday.
As I was perusing the Life section looking for the comics I read this headline over a recipe, “MSG, lime add jolt to beef”. Thinking this must be a mistake I read through the recipe for Garlic, Lime Beef with Avocado Salsa, but no, in the ingredients list was ‘Accent or other MSG product’. In the article accompanying the recipe the author had this to say, “In this recipe, that boost is provided by a quick marinade of lime juice, soy sauce, garlic and MSG. Don’t shy away from that last item. It’s already in nearly everything you eat and has long since lived down its Chinese food syndrome days.”
Wow! I am at a loss for words as I have NEVER seen a recipe actually list MSG as a viable ingredient. I find it very, very scary.
Marti
I remember seeing a recipe awhile back (10 years or so) that called for msg. It was a kfc clone recipe. It said to soak the chicken pieces in a brine of water and msg over night.
GRRRRRRRRRR!
Robyn-Dr.Gabriel Couzens does NOT use blenders at his clinic-Tree Of Life, Patagonia, Arizona-He uses the Norwalk juicers-Why? Please deal with this issue, and respond.
David Haas,
I am not an expert, but have read a few things about cancer/treatment since my husband has it. I believe that the reason that juicers are used in clinics is because cancer patients frequently cannot deal with the large amounts of fiber with smoothies. In juicing they recieve the nutrients wo the fiber. I drink smoothies, but my husband can only tolerate juices. Hope that helps.
Hi Marti,
I live in Arvada, CO and have signed up to form a Co-op here in Colorado.
Are you in a food co-op already? If not are you interested in helping me to form a group in this vicinity?
I’m mostly interested in getting the almonds which, as you know, are cheaper if you place an order for at least 100 pounds
Please send me an email to let me know if you are interested and if you know anyone else who would like to be in a co-op.
Thanks, Eileen
