BlendTec 96oz.
After reading your book, which I LOVE, I ordered the 96oz. jar. I was so excited to make 3 quarts at a time instead of 2 quarts. When I received it I was highly disappointed that it was only a 80oz. jar. I have emailed them and called them and nobody can give me a straight answer. The one I received is not the same number, not the same picture of what is on there, or the same description. They say they are trying to correct that, like they are trying to cover something up. Can you help me? What does your 96oz. jar look like? What number does it go up to? Am I being ripped off?
Has anyone else had this same problem?
Thank you!
The 64 oz. jar is only labeled to 32 ounces. Have you tried filling it with 96 ounces of water (all the way to the brim)?
Yes, I have the 64oz jar. This one is only labeled to 44oz, but when I fill to the brim I get 80oz in there.
man–I’d for sure just return it until they get it worked out–I remember looking at that option online before and being confused because of the two size jars…I’d be mad–what are they going to do for you?!!
Let me look into this with BlendTec.
Thank you Robyn!
Well, the jar technician or something was supposed to call me yesterday, but never did. He still hasn’t called me today and it’s nearly 4pm CST. They did tell me once through email I can return it minus shipping and handling, which I don’t think is very fair.
Yesterday they lady on the phone told me that was their biggest jar they have, but what I got was not what was pictured or described. We shall see what happens.
Hi, I’m Jeff Robe from Blendtec and I am happy to respond directly to the question about the Blendtec 3qt. jar.
We offer two jar sizes for our home blenders. They are identified by the names, 2qt. and 3qt., just to distinguish one from the other. We could call them the big jar and little jar or pick any two different names, and that’s what they could be called. Our intent has never been to describe an exact jar capacity, but rather to give them each a separate identity.
On our website, here is what we say about the size of the 2qt. and 3qt. jars, respectively:
2 quart-
- Easy-to-read jar markings up to 32 ounces or 4 cups (with a total volume of nearly 2 quarts)
3 quart-
- Easy-to-read jar markings up to 44 ounces (with a total volume of nearly 3 quarts)
When a customer calls in with a question about jar usage, our customer service department will advise them to only fill the jar to the marked capacity. Filling it beyond the markings is not recommended. The total capacity of the jar without a blade assembly is approximately 96oz (94.5oz by weight, to be exact), that is why we refer to it as a 3qt. jar. When including the blade assembly it displaces some of that total capacity. If you were to fill the jar to the top (not recommended), it would hold approximately 94oz. by weight. The volume measurements are a different calculation, and those are 91.3oz without the blade assembly, and 90.8 with the blade assembly.
I hope this will help explain things for you and Robyn’s other loyal readers. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any further questions – jrobe@blendtec.com

I have never heard that we shouldn’t fill the jar close to the top-?!! why would I only use half of my jar to where the markings are? and what are the dangers in this?
Lala, from personal experience, one reason for not filling the jar close to the top is that the contents can/will splash out all over the place. Ask me how I know this ^)*
Jeff, I really appreciate your comments. However, I feel that there is still false advertising in your supposedly 3qt. jar. When I ordered the 3qt. jar, and even after, the website had a picture of a jar that went to 46oz. and the description said the markings went up to 44oz. I took a picture of it in fear that y’all would change it after me contacting the company so much. I was in fact right, y’all did change things.
Having a picture and a description of a larger jar leads me to believe that y’all have or do make a larger jar. I can get 64oz out of my 2qt jar, but cannot get 96oz out of my 3qt jar. I would not have spent the $90 on a jar that only gives me a few more ounces from what I already have. It is a waste of my money. I still not heard back from the jar technician, it has been since September 8. I just want this wrong corrected and for BlendTec to be honest.
Robyn, what does your 96oz. jar look like? Can you please help me with this situation? Can you get 3 quarts out of yours when you makes smoothies in them?
I definitely fill mine up past the markings, but I got the 3 quart jar because it is so much easier to make 2 quarts of smoothie with out making a mess. Also, if you don’t fill the jar up completely the contents move much more freely, which means fewer cycles to achieve the desired consistency. We’ve been really pleased with the 3 quart jar.
