raw almonds and 15 other items in upcoming group buy
Newsflash, this blog was hacked into late last week, and I’m sorry you couldn’t read or post comments. It took my webmasters a little while to figure it out, THANKS CHRIS AND RITESH!, but it’s fixed now. The downside is, everyone has to re-register and get a new password. Sorry about that. But please do, because this blog wouldn’t be the same without your comments!
Sometime in the next 10 days, you’ll get a newsletter about our group buy coming up (it’ll start shipping when the almonds are shelled Oct. 15-30). We’re going to do not only almonds, but also the additional 15 items below. We will be shipping nationwide, and shipping is only $0.25/lb. if you have an order of 1,100 lbs. or more (a bit more may be added for a handful of states).
So please note you can’t place an order yet, but you could be organizing a co-op. It’s my #3 best way to save money eating whole and raw food. And if you’re willing to do a little work (gathering/distributing orders, building your co-op list, etc.), you can make an income, from home, helping others.
Raw, unpasteurized almonds $3/lb. (100 lb. orders, each person’s name who is getting 100 lbs. will be required–you can break it down for multiple people though)
Organic, extra-virgin coconut oil $45/gal.
Dark raw, organic agave $130/4 gal.
Extra-virgin olive oil in tin (will keep YEARS), $150 for 6 one-gallon tins
VitaMineral Green 6 bottle case, 17.6 oz. each, a 1-yr. supply for 2 people (using 1 tsp. 3x daily as I recommend in water) $250
Pecan halves, 30#, $5/lb.
Hulled sunflower seeds, 25#, $1.62/lb.
Pumpkin seeds, 27.5#, $3.18/lb.
Cashew pieces, 25#, $4.06/lb.
Sesame seeds, 25#, $2/lb.
Chia seeds, 25#, $4.70/lb.
Organic flaxseed, 25#, $1.64/lb.
Dates (chopped), 30#, $1.40/lb.
Dried apricots (Turkish, diced), 28#, $2.90/lb.
Shredded coconut, 25#, $1.66/lb.
I am particularly excited about the chia seed, great price! Eat a spoonful when you’re hungry but don’t want to eat (like after dinner–not a good time to be eating if you want to lose weight), chased by a big glass of water, and it fills you up. High protein, incredible nutritional profile, great omega fatty acids you need from food because your body can’t provide them.
All items are raw (except cashews are virtually never truly raw because of heat needed to extract), organic only if indicated in the above list.
I am working on a page on the site to describe each item’s nutritional properties and why each one is in my group buy and recommended in the GreenSmoothieGirl dietary approach. I will announce all that here, and in the newsletter.
hey robyn where do I find the downloadable version of your smoothie book? I am from canada so I am guessing this is my only option? I can’t get coconut up here, do many of your smoothie recipes call for coconut product? THANKS!!

Jon, You can purchase “The Green Smoothies Diet” in PDF format from:
http://www.booksonboard.com/index.php?BODY=viewbook&BOOK=475281
Will each of these be sold only in the quantities listed above? For example, with the olive oil, do we have to order in multiples of 6 gallons? And do the nuts/seeds come in 25-30 pound bags?
Hi Robyn,
I see how people ask questions on your blog, but I can’t figure out how to do that myself. Is there a place to register? Thanks,
Crystal
Thanks for those who figured out what was wrong!! I’m glad it is solved, as I love reading the comments from others.
Anyone living in the Seattle, Wa area that wants to go in on an order, please email me: Christine.Workman@kent.k12.wa
thanks!
What if we can’t organize a group buy, can we buy 100 pounds of almonds from you or someone else?
GSG Admin said,
Yes. 100 lbs is the minimum amount that you can order and you don’t have to have someone else purchase with you if you want all 100lbs of almonds.
The downside is, everyone has to re-register and get a new password.
Where can I re-register? I clicked on Word Press, but there was no place to register, just log in.
Please help!
Robyn,
The items that are not sold by weight, but by volume (coconut oil, evoo, etc.) can you give us the estimated weight for shipping costs so we can tell our “customers”? Thanks so much.
I’m organizing a group of people who want almonds in Colorado but I don’t know if we’ll hit the 1,100 lb mark. Any idea what shipping will be?

Here is the shipping prices for the almond buy. Only $0.25/lb. if your group order is 1,100 lbs. or more. $0.50/lb. if you order 600-1,000 lbs. $0.75/lb. if you order 100-500 lbs.
If you are looking for more information about the group buy here are a few links to other blog posts about this:

Thank you!
I would love to go in on a co-op. Any one in Utah County want to share an order? I think I could do 1/4 of an order of most of the items listed. Thanks!

Robyn-
Any plans to do a group buy for reverse osmosis water filter or Ionizers? Any thoughts on the RO filters sold thru Costco by Watts??
three gallons of coconut oil: 23.1 lbs.
four gallons of agave: 46.26 lbs.
VitaMineral Green case: 17.6 oz x 6 bottles
EV olive oil: still finding out
The RO filter at Costco is good as far as I know.
We are doing an ionizer group buy right now (we do one every few months)–if you want pricing info, contact Jenni at support123@greensmoothiegirl.com.
Em, if you get 600-1,000 lbs. worth of anything, it’ll be $0.50.lb. If you get 100-400 lbs., it’ll be $0.75/lb.
If you round people up, you won’t have trouble hitting 1,100 lbs. since there are so many items to order this year.
I’m glad the computer problem is fixed
so i have a question for locals–if i don’t want almonds (bought a lot last time)–can I only get some of the other items? what is the minimum weight I need to get of all the items together? (or does it have to be a weight Per EACH item?) THANKS
I’m in Utah County and am interested in buying some stuff. Sarah, I know you’re interested. Robyn, are you organizing something for people local? I can’t do a ton, but I would like to do something.
noescapemusic@yahoo.com
Hi all you Utah County people,
I’m interested in going in with you on the group buys.
marlou_i@yahoo.com
I am considering coconut oil, EVOO, almonds, agave,
flax seeds, cashews, chia, sunflower.
Robyn, you said “And if you’re willing to do a little work (gathering/distributing orders, building your co-op list, etc.), you can make an income, from home, helping others.”
How would I be able to make an income? I love this idea and would love some details on how I could make that work!
Kari
I will be doing a separate buy for locals. You may want to organize if you want to share items (like break down the 25# orders of nuts or 100# orders of almonds because I am not doing that). But the minimum order is just 100# in the local buy, and no shipping because you’ll pick it up from me.
I am putting together a co-op in SL valley but have people in Utah co, Centerville, and Logan areas on my order so far, so I am planning on having a drop off location for those areas. If you are interested in ordering smaller quantities of things and want to combine with me, let me know.
ktlund @ gmail dot com
Kari, you’d resell almonds, broken down in smaller amounts, for $4/lb. or whatever you want. (I believe last year that’s what most people charged, $4/lb.) So for every 1,000 lbs., you’re making $1,000.
You can mark up the other items by 25% or whatever you decide, and have your own order form or method of letting people order from you.
Then you can let people pick their orders up from you after yours is received. Keep your list of folks who ordered, continue to add to your list as people contact you or you learn of people interested in nutrition–and next time you’ll have even more interest.
I just wonder if you are shipping in Canada
What’s the best way to store 100 pounds of almonds?? There are only 2 of us in my household and I think it will take many many months to go thru 100 pounds of almonds. Can they be frozen and still preserve their nutrient value, the enzymes, etc.?
Yes, if you refrigerate they’ll last a year or more, and if you freeze, they last indefinitely with enzyme potential intact and little loss of vitamins/minerals. A nut locks those nutrients away nicely.
The only way to receive an order if you’re Canadian is to have it shipped across the U.S. border and pick it up, sorry.
Katie did that here in Utah County last year: break down an order into smaller amounts and resell for a profit ($4/lb. usually).
That’s what many co-op organizers will do, in their local areas. Tell where you’re from, Bill, and give an email address, and maybe someone will contact you?
Anyone in the Atlanta area and interested in a group buy for almonds?
JB, I’m in Atlanta. I’m interested in 100 lbs.
Randy
Hi Robyn, Are these almonds organic? If not, do you know their growing practices? Thanks so much for the information!

Have a great day!
I am putting together a group buy for anyone in the Ogden and surrounding areas. If any of you would like to be in this group order, feel free to email me at– treasureyourhealthforlife@gmail.com
Is the coconut you are offering on this order sweetened?
Shredded coconut will be UNSWEETENED.
Regarding Extra-virgin olive oil in tin (will keep YEARS), $150 for 6 one-gallon tins.
Once opened do you have to keep in the fridge? If not, how long before it goes bad if not in the fridge.
Additionally, I loved seeing the photo of your freezer. It helped me visualize storage of my garden abundance. Would love to see photos of your refrigerator inside the house too. I am finding we may need a bigger fridge in the house with all the fresh foods and stuff without the pesky preservatives.
Thanks,
Laura
Robyn-
Just wondering when we might get more info on the group buy. Are you still putting together the info on each item? I want to open this up to my church and friends, so I want to have as much info as possible. I’ve been gathering my own facts, but I’m sure yours will be much more complete. Thanks again for getting this buy together for all of us.
YOU ROCK!
Cheryl
Robyn – do the apricots have sulfur dioxide? what is their texture? (I’ve had some that are really dry and leathery, as opposed to moist and chewy like those bright orange ones preserved with sulfur dioxide)
