Who lives near me?
I am kind of interested in knowing if any of the people that frequent this site are in my area. It would be nice to meet someone local to see about doing things jointly with… such as an almond purchase. Is anyone intersted in listing name, city/state and maybe email for orders not local to Utah. I really want some almonds but have not found anyone interested in sharing an order as my friends all think my eating habits are nuts.
By the way, I found and made a flourless brownie recipe yesterday and it was very good. Even my husband, who can eat regular brownies said they were as good as any he has had. It is as follows….
Flourless Brownies
Makes 16
No one will ever guess that black beans are the secret ingredient in this recipe!
Ingredients
1 (15-ounce) can no-salt-added black beans, drained and rinsed (I cook and use my own as I always have some on hand)
3 large eggs ( I used egg substitute)
1/3 cup melted butter, more for the baking dish ( I used raw coconut oil)
1/4 cup raw cocoa powder
1/8 teaspoon sea salt
2 teaspoon gluten-free vanilla extract
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons cane sugar ( I use raw cane sugar)
1/2 cup gluten-free semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup finely chopped walnuts
Method
Preheat oven to 350 °F.
Oil an 8-inch baking pan. Place the black beans, eggs, melted butter/oil, cocoa powder, salt, vanilla, and sugar in the
bowl of a food processor and blend until smooth. Remove the blade and stir in the chocolate chips and
walnuts. Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Bake the brownies for 30 to 35 minutes, or until just set in the center.
Cool before cutting into squares.

Bon Apetit!
I’m interested and having the same problem here with the almonds~
not sure where you are located–
Jen in WV — leave a comment as to where you are- if you’re close, I leave my email~
Lynn,
It’s crazy that you posted this! Just yesterday you said something about Houston, so I registered for this blog JUST so that I could find your contact information, but then I couldn’t find it.
I might move to Houston. It’s kind of a rollercoaster right now — will we?! won’t we?! will we?! maybe? no way! But you may see me there soon
Right now I’m in Utah County, Utah
I live in Salem Oregon and would also be interested in sharing some things – don’t think you said where you were?
you didn’t write where you are from, did you?
i think it’s a great idea….
so, i will start the list
i’m from nj, specifically monmouth county. anyone from my area?!?!?!
You forgot to say where you are for the newcomers. Sucks when I have to go on a trip to find out where someone is (LOL) – even your youtube channel does not say. Anyway, if I don’t find out first, where are you?
Oh sheesh. Utah. I posted before I finished reading. Looks who’s sucking now.
I don’t know if you are aware of buying clubs or if the specific type of almonds are even offered but I bet they are. I belong to one in my area; hope you can find something in your area: http://www.unitedbuyingclubs.com/
If not from United (I’m a newbie, so I really don’t know how these work yet), I’d google buying clubs to see if any others are in your area, or call United and ask if they can refer. This is easier, you can already find a co-op up and running, and just join.
Maybe it would help for you to post where you’re from and let those that are in your area post if they’d like. I’m in Colorado.
Thanks for the Brownie recipe. I can’t wait to try it as I enjoy black beans and I have tons of them in storage.
i’m from Plano, TX. Is anyone in the DFW area?
Did you get that recipe from Brenna’s blog? She reads and posts here, and that’s where I got it. People LOVE those brownies! I serve them to vegans and non-vegans alike and they always get rave reviews.
I’m in Atlanta.
Tremonton, Utah baby.
I’m in Beaverton Oregon, up by Portland. i have a group who does orders like this. anyone in Oregon can jump in on our order! we have people on from Salem!
Good day ladies… as only some of you got from my earlier posts, I am from Houston, TX or there abouts… Richmond actually but we are just a suburb of Houston. My email address is lynn@legendserv.com
Katie, I would love to get together if you do make it to Houston.
Leslee, I am often in your area as my daughter lives in Fort Worth and my cousin lives in Arlington. In fact, I will be up there next weekend. If you are interested in almonds we can definitely go in together. It would be another good excuse to go see my baby girl…. yeah! She is only 23! LOL!
Her room mate is celiac and about 100 pounds overweight so we are working on her a little at a time.
The recipe was off the internet but not sure where…. They are marvelous though!!
Glad to know others think this is a good idea. I sure hope there are more of y’all down here!
Utah County! I’m super interested in meeting other people with the same eating interests and possibly making an almond order.
This recipe is from Vegetarian Times. I had just printed it this morning!
I’m in the Seattle area.
Cris,
The almonds that Robyn is getting are *not* available through any buying club, anywhere.
I tried the brownies and unfortunatley they were not a hit around here. The black bean was to strong of a taste, though I look forward to any additional recipes shared, you never know until you try!!
thanks
Sally Farb – I would love to hear more. Here is my email – wallnut85@gmail.com
Thx
Leslie,
I am in southeastern Oklahoma. I am about 3 hrs. from Plano…no biggie; I’m about 3 hrs. from Ok City, Tula, Little Rock and Shreeveport…
Hey there, nice to find you and your recipes! I live in American Fork, UT. Definitelly interested in the Almond thing.
Well I am currently in Pocatello ID but used to live in Lehi UT–
what kind of egg sub did you use in those brownies? (powdered ener-g egg subb? or flax subb? or something else? thanks)
Sorry–It’s a Whole Foods Market recipe. I wasn’t remembering correctly.
Well, we have two of us here in the Houston area and two within driving distance of the Dallas area. I am looking into local Whole Foods stores to see if they will take some… if so we can do a 600#order and split it. Email if you are interested. Patti and I are going in together already. Lynn at legendserv dot com.
Lala, I used the ener-g but used it 2-2 instead of 1.5-2.
I’m interested to share 100 pounds with someone. I live in Berkeley, CA.
I realized later that I forgot to put contact info, in case I am near enough to drive…
It’s v-stephens@hotmail.com
Thanks
