Blender?
Just purchased the 12 Step program b ut I can’t afford the BlendTech and the recipe says you can’t use the $20 blenders. Does anyone have suggestions for what to use? Thanks for any help.

I can’t afford a BlendTech either but I am using a blender that I bought probably about 6 or 7 years ago. It never got much use until now but it is an HD design and it work great for the smoothies. I am sure it isn’t nearly as good as a BlendTech but it does the job and doesn’t leave any stringy Veggies. I have also found if you freeze you leafy greens you can break them up into small bit easily if you need to. I haven’t needed to but with a cheap 20$ blender you may need to.

When I first started I used a $20 blender and its not as good, but it worked fine until I could afford a better blender.
I could not afford it either but went ahead and got it. if you use it everyday it pays for itself in a matter of months. Is your health worth it???
I used to use a smoothie maker that probably costs around $30 or $40 at B.B. & B. Now that I have a Blendtec, I never use the other blender but when I had it, it was alright. It isn’t going to work as good as a Blendtec and you won’t be able to use as many greens most likely. If you can’t afford the Blendtec then just do the best with what you have and save up for the Blendtec!
Cut your solid veggies (carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, etc) into small pieces before putting them in the blender. Also feed your greens in slowly. The whole mix won’t be quite as smooth a the Cadillac blenders but you will be getting them into your system without overworking your blender.
Thanks for the help. I’ll go get my greens Friday and see what my old blender will do!!!
I used another blender before I got the Blendtec and the difference I noticed was that sometimes there were pieces of whatever that didn’t get to smoothie status, but I drank them anyway. So don’t be afraid to use the $20 blender. It will still make smoothies and give you the nutrition you’re seeking. Good luck and keep saving. One day you’ll have enough to purchase the Blendtec. Don’t give up.
I now have a Vitamix blender . . . and it is worth every penny! Make it a high priority.
BUT . . . while I was saving my pennies, I used my little Magic Bullet Blender. It was a little work horse and made many great green drinks–a bit more chunky, a lot more work, but healthy nonetheless.
Use what you can!
Before I was able to purchase the Blentec I was using my chepo blender that I received as a wedding gift 10 years ago. It worked fine. I just had to empty it more often to make sure all of my greens were being blended well. Don’t let not having a Blendtec stop you from drinking greens!!!
Wll the Blendtech take all of the chunks of the vegatables out of the smoothie and make it smooth as compared to my Oster. Thanks for any help.
I’ve been using a food processor for about a year and a half. So far, I LOVE the smoothies I get out of it, and so do my husband and three children. I’m sure when we finally get a Blendtec there’ll be a big difference, but why wait? Good luck with whichever method you choose!
I have a KitchenAid blender. It’s about $100.
Have you tried looking up Vitamix/Blentec on Craiglist? I bought my daughter a Vitamix for 120 bucks on Craiglist. You just might get lucky and find one there ) or through your local newspaper classified section. A good blender is a fabulous investment! Good luck!
“I could not afford it either but went ahead and got it. if you use it everyday it pays for itself in a matter of months. Is your health worth it???”
If she doesn’t have $400, what do you suggest she do? Rob someone? If you don’t have $400, you don’t have $400, end of story.
I used a $40 blender for 8.5 months until I was gifted a Blendtec for Christmas
I only did green smoothies and dressings, though.
400 -there is always credit! you can borrow, you can save, make payments- 33 a month for 1 year- put that in your grocery budget, go in on one with a friend, family member and share. Its worth it.
My families health was worth the investment.
Have smoothie green day!!
As of this month, BlendTec now has a payment plan so you can pay over three months. Check it out. It’s on their homepage.
And I agree with this sentiment, that I often repeat: if you can’t get a turbo blender, don’t use it as an excuse to not make green smoothies! Use what you have. You won’t be able to get your mixture as smooth, and you probably shouldn’t destroy a cheap blender with frozen fruit. But make it with all room-temp or refrigerated ingredients and then chill for a while.
“400 -there is always credit!”
Aah, and look where the idea of turning to credit has gotten America now. Well, this isn’t a financial blog, so I won’t continue this line other than to say that I believe that people should save, not turn to credit.
Katie,
This is Robyns blog, lets please keep rude comments to ourselves. I am just trying to help the first gal with any suggestions that she might not have thought of. In my opinion it is worth the splurge in any way shape or form. I saved a tad of money out of my grocery budget for a bit and I was able to afford one. 400 is alot for most people but where there is a will for health there is a way!
Also, Robyn did mention in her las blog that Blendtec does accept payments now. That could help alot of people.
Has anyone used Montel Williams Health Master? If so, how was your experience with it?
