Here’s what my ionizer (alkaline water machine) looks like!
If you subscribe to my e-letter, you know we’re doing a free conference call this coming Tuesday night with the founder of Life Ionizer.
It will be great, because they’ll tell you about what happens when people begin getting alkaline by drinking ionized water, plus go through a lot of other information you’ve been asking about. We do group buys on the ionizers so GreenSmoothieGirl.com readers can get theirs affordably rather than spend $4,000 on a multi-level marketed machine—or even pay retail on a Life machine (still much less expensive than the Kangen, but we can do better with our buying power!). I don’t promote ANYTHING on this site that I don’t use myself, and I adore my Life Ionizer.
Here’s the deal (this info requested by a reader):
Your REVERSE OSMOSIS filtration system ($299 wholesale in the group buy) removes completely dozens of chemicals like chlorine, fluoride, arsenic, and many more.
Your REMINERALIZER ($75) allows the water to flow through coral calcium to pick up the minerals stripped out by the reverse osmosis system, so the water doesn’t become “aggressive,” seeking minerals from your bones and tissues.
Your IONIZER makes that mineral water ALKALINE, which does more to change your pH balance than all the alkaline food you could eat in a day.
I have all three, and I’m posting a photo of the unit (14” x 4.5” x 10”) under my sink, plus the faucet that is in my granite countertop for the alkaline (or acid) water to come out at the touch of a button.

Can you drink alkaline water while taking prescription medication and vits?
Also, Robyn, you should tell people that you have your RO & re-mineralizer in your basement coming up to your kitchen under the sink. I couldn’t fit everything under my sink with all the stuff i have in there already. It was lucky that i have an island and we were able to put the ionizer behind the sink cabinet under the island cabinet and drill two holes for the two lines to go thru, the acid water and alkaline water.
i have a huge garbage disposal, instant hot water dispenser and all the usual pipes. So, there was too many pipes in the way to fit it all.
But i forgot to add, I LOVE MY IONIZER! It’s great not to ever have to buy water again! I just refill stainless steel water bottles whenever I go out.
True, my R.O canister is in the basement.
And yes, you can take your meds and vitamins with alkaline water.
Robyn,
I was looking at your recipes and most call for a food dehydrator, which I dont have. Is there anyother way to get the nutrients out of the food without the dehydrator? If I do decide to invest in one, which one should I get. I started looking them up and there are so many – 3 trays, 4 trays, 6 trays, ones with a yogurt maker ….
Thank you!
Kathryn
Here’s my blog from December answering your question, Kathryn:

OK, Here is where I am confused.
Do you only drink water out of your kitchen sink? What about in the bathroom after brushing teeth…?
We are in the market for a new fridge and my husband really wants the ice and water in the door.
What about a whole house filtration system so you are not showering with chlorinated, chemical water and therefore any faucet in the house is filtered? If you get a whole house filtration system should you then get a re-mineralizer for the drinking water?
My husband will need a DEionizer for for the salt water fish tank set up that we will soon be investing in…
I would like to start somewhere with healthier drinking water but do not know where to begin.
I am hoping to be listening in on the conference.
Colleen
I love my ionizer, too! But if you’re barely buying, you should look and compare prices on the ionizers to find one that works for your budget.

Hi Robyn,
thanks for the info and pictures! I have a question about the filtration system-I know it gets rid of chemicals, but does it also rid the water of viruses, bacteria, spores, etc? At any rate, I’m in on the next group buy, do I need to email you separately? Keep up the great work!
Oh, P.S. do you also use water filters for your other water-the shower, for example?
I have a carbon filter on the source for my house–it was about $200 and it removes chlorine so we’re not bathing/showering in that.
The group buy will be outlined in tonight’s conference call–maybe I shouldn’t jump the gun, but those on the call are going to get a free showerhead filter. And the group buy Life is doing for us stays open until Saturday morning.
The MESH/UV filter you can add onto your ionizer gets rid of viruses, bacteria, spores, etc.
Hi Robyn,
I am not available for the call tonight but I am VERY interested in the topic. Will there be an archive of the call that we can listen to after the fact? (Group buy prices, etc…)
Thanks again for all you do!
My biz partner is going to get the audio of the call posted on GSG’s HOME PAGE tomorrow. The offer from tonight’s call will be good through FRIDAY at MIDNIGHT. Then the link to the call will come down.
Hi Robyn, I am just reading this tonight….two nights too late. What is the link? We are wanting in on this buy. Is this ok being in California? Also, how can I listen the call?
Does pregnancy and breastfeeding change the recommendations of drinking the ionized water?
Tonya, I posted the link to download the audio file in yesterday’s blog, hopefully you saw it? The deal they offered us is good through midnight tonight.
No issue with pregnancy and breastfeeding–drink alkaline water and eat alkaline foods, excellent for you.
I do want to say with regard to taking meds that you shouldn’t drink alkaline water within an hour of taking meds. I learned that just recently.
I have just started to lok into water filtration. I herd good things about the Aquasanna. Which you can do in shower filter, faucet, or whole house. Do you know how they compare? Also have any of you noticed that your water bill went up after installation? I’ve herd osmosis uses alot of water. Thanks
There sure is alot to relearn about living a healthy life.
Hi Robyn, I could get into it. Let me know the next time you do this as I have a group of women down here who would like to go in with you again. Also, I am ready for that summer almond buy. I have a list of people eager to buy.
I look forward to getting that water filter. Our water tastes horrible even with our gadget on it.
My son has bumps everywhere and his skin is dry. I can’t help but wonder if it is from the water. I have a woman in my group down here that said they had to get a whole house filtration and then her daughters skin problems went away and she stopped losing hair. Don’t know if this is linked, but she said it went away within a week. She is moving into a new house in a few months and wants a new system. Me, too!
Oh, I would like this set up you have up there in your kitchen. How much is the ionizer? Also, what do you use for your shower? I was thinking of getting one I saw on line that puts minerals back in your water that they use at a Raw Food Retreat. Not sure if this is good or not.
Thanks, Robyn.
Anyone who wants an ionizer should email me for the price sheet and when I think we’ll be doing a group buy next: robyn@greensmoothiegirl.com.
The price sheet explains what to do if you have Reverse Osmosis (or want it) and the need for a remineralizer.
Right now, althought the free showerhead filter offer they gave us during the teleseminar is gone, they are letting us add people onto the group buy with the dealer pricing. So do write for the price sheet if you want in or know someone who does.
Love your website and it has some great information. However, I was looking into purchasing a great water filter until I heard about the alkline water “thing”. Most everything I’ve read on website has been great. However, I have to say I was little concern after reading information on your website about ionized water. So here is what I found:
http://www.chem1.com/CQ/ionbunk.html
http://www.chem1.com/CQ/index.html
“Ionized water” is nothing more than sales fiction; the term is meaningless to chemists.
Pure water (that is, water containing no dissolved ions) is too unconductive to undergo signficant electrolysis by “water ionizer” devices.
Pure water can never be alkaline or acidic, nor can it be made so by electrolysis. Alkaline water must contain metallic ions of some kind — most commonly, sodium, calcium or magnesium.
The idea that one must consume alkaline water to neutralize the effects of acidic foods is ridiculous; we get rid of excess acid by exhaling carbon dioxide.
If you do drink alkaline water, its alkalinity is quickly removed by the highly acidic gastric fluid in the stomach.
Uptake of water occurs mainly in the intestine, not in the stomach. But when stomach contents enter the intestine, they are neutralized and made alkaline by the pancreatic secretions — so all the water you drink eventually becomes alkaline anyway.
The claims about the health benefits of drinking alkaline water are not supported by credible scientific evidence.
There is nothing wrong with drinking slightly acidic waters such as rainwater. “Body pH” is a meaningless concept; different parts of the body (and even of individual cells) can have widely different pH values.
The pH of drinking water has zero effect on that of the blood or of the body’s cells.
If you really want to de-acidify your stomach (at the possible cost of interfering with protein digestion), why spend hundreds of dollars for an electrolysis device when you can take calcium-magnesium pills, Alka-Seltzer or Milk of Magnesia?
Electrolysis devices are generally worthless for treating water for health enhancement, removal of common impurities, disinfection, and scale control. Claims that “ionized” waters are antioxidants are untrue; hypochlorites (present in most such waters) are in fact oxidizing agents.
Please don’t take this personal, I just need more clarification on this because these guys appear to have darn good research!
