Cacao (Chocolate) Powder
Robyn,
Have you went to David Wolfe’s website www.sunfood.com? If you have do you know about this cacao powder he has for sale. If so what do you think of it? Or if anyone else knows about it let’s hear from you too. I have used it myself and I think it helps enhance your mood but I don’t know if it does much else to tell you the truth. I like it but at 32 dollars a pound I would like to know if it is everything it is cracked up to be.
Thanks all.
Yes, I know his site, and yes, I’ve bought his chocolate. David Wolfe’s a great guy and promotes raw food well. His products are exorbitantly expensive. (Look at his green drink–it’s the exact same thing you can get here on gsg.com, just privately labelled . . . but for MUCH more.)
I will eventually find a good way to get raw chocolate in a group buy. I talked to the wholesale guys at Sunfood and still felt the pricing they offered me was unacceptable.
I do not think chocolate cures all ills. A network marketing company has overhyped it as a curative food. It’s high in antioxidants (just like all the foods I promote in 12 Steps, none of which cost $32/lb.). However, if you love chocolate, use some of the chocolate recipes in Ch. 11 and use raw powdered chocolate or cacao nibs.

HOw can I be contacted for local group buys? (is it open?)
If you bought almonds in this group buy, you are already on the list (or will be when we update it shortly).
If not, just email me with the email address at which you want to be contacted. (robyn@greensmoothiegirl.com)

You can buy cacao nibs online through Amazon (Nutiva) or purchase them threw http://www.livingnutritionals.com. Matt (livingnutritionals) offers 16% every month and often has below cost items. Just click on it and sign up. They taste great in a peanut butter/frozen banana smoothie. Taste just like a reeses and it’s raw. Yummmm.
david wolfe’s products are so overpriced it’s repulsive. this guy makes so much money and yet his website looks like it’s ready to infect your computer with credit-card sniffing robots. he lectures like a cars salesman and his website shows no class. i use nutiva myself, just b/c i am in the nyc area and have a choice of cocoa products. however, i have not, and will not, buy anything from david wolfe. the raw food movement is about health and love, and over-charging for products whose health claims are over exaggerated is corrupt and sad.
Tell us what you REALLY think, Melissa.
Thanks Melissa!
I am glad to see my impressions of david wolfe are the same as others. I will try nutiva and see how it compares to his cocoa. Thanks for the honest opinion.
I also saw his website and thought. Hey maybe I should start selling raw foods. This guy is a rip off.
