Just want to know if you have every used strawberries green tops in your green smoothie? I have been drying and freezing strawberries. The more i cut off the tops I wondered if they could be used.
Thanks
Kathy

OOOHHH…I was wondering the same thing! We eat about 12 baskets of strawberries a week!
The guy in the Blendtec videos on the Blentec site used them. He said they do something good for the brain. Don’t ya love people who have vague information? LOL Go to Blendtec through Robyn’s link and watch the smoothie video.
I find nothing more specific than that, and I can’t find strawberry tops or papaya peels on any “edible” list. That said, I have found accounts of people eating strawberry tops and apparently they don’t make you sick and therefore aren’t poisonous, for what little that’s worth.
Carrot tops from your garden, now those I know are edible.
wow, we’d be a 12-basket of strawberries a week family if we could get non-organic, but I heard they’re among the most toxic — can we get regular strawberries if we just wash in a fruit wash really well?
And what’s the best fruit/veggie wash? Basic H or something else?
Shaklee Basic H is what I use. You have other options at the health food store.
I use them every day in my green smoothie for the chlorophyll. *shrug*
Heather, what is cholorophyll (shrug). I am NEW to this
I know these are old posts, but if anyone out there is still checking on the strawberry tops issue, I wanted to let you know that my husband and I eat them regularly. He has eaten them most of his life (he told me because he was too lazy to cut the top off!). We put them in smoothies, sauces, dressings, and we have even put them in fresh green salads (more greens!).
YES!!!!! You can definitely use the strawberry tops. Not at all harmful, in fact, very healthful! At the least, you’re getting more greens
Although I usually only buy frozen strawberries to save money, and they always have the greens taken off.
